What two things must be true about a sample in order to date it via radiocarbon dating by evaluating the decay of carbon-14
natka813 [3]

Carbon -14 is a dating method that is applicable to only samples of organic origin which are less than 50,000 years old.

When living things contain carbon- 14. Carbon - 14 is a radioactive isotope of carbon that decays by beta emission. As long as a plant or animal is alive, there is a balance between its intake and output of carbon -14.

However, when the plant or animal dies, this carbon - 14 begins to decay. The half life of carbon - 14 is 5700 years and it can be used to measure the age of materials or organic origin that are less than 50,000 years old.

Jessica's weight is 540 newtons. According to the Third Law, if the Earth pulls on Jessica with a force of 540 N, then Jessica p
Alja [10]

This is because the earth is way heavier than Jessica hence has a greater force of gravity applied on Jessica that Jessica applies to earth. The distance between the Earth and Jessica is also very short hence the force of gravity on Jessica towards earth is greater. According to Newton's laws that states; if an unbalanced force acts on an object, it will change the object's state of motion (the object will accelerate). The earth cause Jesica to ‘accelerate’ towards the ‘core’ when she stumbles.

An object falls freely from rest on a planet where the acceleration due to gravity is it is on Earth. In the first 5 seconds it
weqwewe [10]

Answer:

A. The object falls a distance of 250 m

Explanation:

Hi there!

In the question, you have forgotten the acceleration due to gravity. However, looking on the web I´ve found a very similar problem in which the acceleration due to gravity was as twice as much as it is on Earth.

The equation of height of a falling object is the following:

y = y0 + v0 · t + 1/2 · g · t²

Where:

y = height of the object after a time t.

y0 = initial height.

v0 = initial velocity.

t = time.

g = acceleration due to gravity (on Earth: ≅ -10 m/s² considering the upward direction as positive).

Let´s place the origin of the system of reference at the point where the object is released so that y0 = 0. Since the object falls from rest, v0 = 0.

Then, the height of the object after 5 s will be :

y = 1/2 · 2 · g · t²    (notice that the acceleration due to gravity is 2 · g)

y = g · t²

y = -10 m/s² · (5 s)²

y = -250 m

The object falls a distance of 250 m.
