Answer

n = 30

Explanation

To solve for n, you have to isolate it by 'getting rid' of the 18, 2, and negative sign.

You 'remove' these numbers in backward PEMDAS.

So to 'remove' the 18, you subtract both sides by 18.

3-18 = -15

-n/2+18-18 = -n/2

So now you are left with -15 = -n/2.

To 'get rid' of the 2, you multiply each side by 2.

-15×2 = -30

-n/2×2 = -n

And now you have -30 = -n.

To 'get rid' of the negative sign, you multiply both sides by -1.

-30×-1 = 30

-n×-1 = n

So you get 30 = n or n = 30.

If you still have questions I'll answer them in the comments (under this question).

What would be the equation for this line?
Nata [24]

Answer:

  y = -x -2

Step-by-step explanation:

  The line goes down 1 grid square for each grid square to the right. Hence its slope is -1. The graph shows the y-intercept to be -2, so the slope-intercept equation with m = -1 and b = -2 is ...

  y = mx + b

  y = -x -2

Find the slope of the line that passes through (2,2) and (-4,10)
Semmy [17]

Answer:

8/-6 or 4/-3 (either will work, their both the same)

Step-by-step explanation:

Use the formula y2-y1/x2-x1 (For example with this problem, 10-2/-4-2)

Solve it and simplify if you want or it it's needed.

You should get 8/-6 or simplified, 4/-3

At the apple pan 4 burgers and 3 fries cost 26.50. 5 burgers and 5 fries cost $36.25. what is the cost for each item?
netineya [11]
Fries are $2.50 and burgers are $4.75.

Our system of equations for this situation would be

\left \{ {{4b+3f=26.50} \atop {5b+5f=36.25}} \right.

We want the coefficients of one of the variables to be the same in order to eliminate one of them; we will make the coefficients of f the same.  To do this, multiply the top equation by 5 and the bottom equation by 3:

\left \{ {{5(4b+3f=26.50)} \atop {3(5b+5f=36.25)}} \right.
\\
\\ \left \{ {{20b+15f=132.50} \atop {15b+15f=108.75}} \right

We subtract the bottom equation:
\left \{ {{20b+15f=132.50} \atop {-(15b+15f=108.75)}} \right.
\\
\\ 5b = 23.75

Divide both sides by 5:
5b/5 = 23.75/5
b = 4.75

Burgers are $4.75.

Substitute this into the first equation:
4(4.75) + 3f = 26.50
19 + 3f = 26.50

Subtract 19 from both sides:
19 + 3f - 19 = 26.50 - 29
3f = 7.50

Divide both sides by 3:
3f/3 = 7.50/3
f = 2.50

What is the value of the discriminant of the quadratic equation −1 = 5x2 −2x, and what does its value mean about the number of r
Svetlanka [38]
5x^2 -2x +1 = 0

D = 4 -20 = -16

so this mean that the quadratic has no real solutions
