High levels of this hormone may lead to a person committing violence or crime because he is more prone to act aggressively. This is the reason why majority of crimes are committed by men.

Another example is the "post partum depression" experienced by women. This is due to the drop in the amount of estrogen and progesterone in the body after a woman gives birth. This sudden occurrence causes some women to be suicidal. Others may also become homicidal. So this is another reason why some women commit crimes.
