a² = b²+c²...................... Equation 1

Where a = 13.4 in, b = x in, c = 9.8 in.

Substitute these values into equation 1

13.4² = x²+9.8²

x² = 13.4²-9.8²

x² = 179.56-96.04

x² = 83.52

x = √(83.52)

x = 9.14 inches
