One side of the back yard is usually the back side of the house.
But we won't worry about that ... we'll just go ahead and fence all
four sides, like you seem to have said.

Any rectangle has two sides that are the length and two sides that are the width.
So the distance around the back yard is

           (14 + 14)  +  (12 + 12)  =   52 meters.

(That's called the "perimeter" of the yard.)

If every meter of fence costs $9.00 , then  52 meters of fence will cost

                  (52) times ($9.00)  =   $468 .                  plus tax.

Josie bought four lollipops for 65 cents each. She paid with a five-dollar bill. How many cents will she get back?
Murrr4er [49]

Answer:

240 cents

Step-by-step explanation:

Given that,

cost of one lollipop = 65 cents

total amount Josie need to paid = 65 * 4 cents = 260 cents

amount Josie gave  = $5

As we know

$1 = 100 cents

$5 = 100 * 5 cents

    = 500 cents

number of cents Josie will get back

500 - 260

240 cents or $2.40

So, Josie will get 240 cents back

13x+5y=90 what is x? what is y?
Leona [35]

Answer:

X=-5y/13+90/13, Y=-13x/5+18

Step-by-step explanation:

You need to solve the equation for X and Y.

Solving for X:

13x+5y=90

Subtract 5y: 13x=-5y+90

Divide by 13: x=-5y/13+90/13

--

For Y:

13x+5y=90

Subtract 13x: 5y=-13x+90

Divide by 5: y=-13x/5+90/5

(Simplifies to -13x/5+18)

Lieutenant James made an average of 3 arrests per week for 4 weeks. How many arrests does she need to make in the fifth week to
tankabanditka [31]

Answer:

5

Step-by-step explanation:

We want the average arrests to be 4. It can be done by calculating the average between the average arrests and arrests during the 5th week, so we get:

Avg(1,2,3,4,5) = (Avg(1,2,3,4) + A(5)) / 2

Where Avg(x) is the average of arrests in given weeks, and A(x) is the number of arrests in a given week.

Solving for A(5) => A(5) = 2*Avg(1,2,3,4,5) - Avg(1,2,3,4) = 2 * 4 - 3 = 8-3 = 5
