The rock cycle is a concept used to explain how the three basic rock types are related and how Earth processes, over geologic time, change a rock from one type into another. Plate tectonic activity, along with weathering and erosional processes, are responsible for the continued recycling of rocks.

A ship can carry more load than aeroplane of same size. why?
stepladder [879]

Answer:

density of water is much greater than density of air

Explanation:

when body is in fluid it carries weight which is always equal to upthrust

upthrust is given as

upthrust= density of fluid ×strength of gravitational field g × volume of body in fluid

as volume of ship and aeroplane is same and strength of gravitational field or acceleration due to gravity is same hence upthrust depens upon density of fluid .

density of air is about 1.2 kg/m^3  and density of water is 1000kg/m^3 hence ship carries more load

lock of mass m2 is attached to a spring of force constant k and m1 . m2. If the system is released from rest, and the spring is
patriot [66]

Answer:

The maximum displacement of the mass m₂ = \frac{2(m_1-m_2)g}{k}

Explanation:

Kinetic Energy (K) = 1/2mv²

Potential Energy (P) = mgh

Law of Conservation of energy states that total energy of the system remains constant.

i.e; Total energy before collision = Total energy after collision

This implies that: the gravitational potential energy lost by m₁ must be equal to sum of gravitational energy gained by m₂ and the elastic potential energy stored in the spring.

m_1gd = m_2gd+\frac{1}{2}kd^2\\\\m_1g = m_2g+\frac{1}{2}kd\\\\d = \frac{2(m_1-m_2)g}{k}

d = maximum displacement of the mass m₂

If all distant galaxies are expanding away from us, does this mean we’re at the center of the universe?
yuradex [85]

Answer:

No

Explanation:

Is a thing of relativity and perspective, let me put it this way: if you have lived all of your life in an island and you only see water around you, you will feel that you are in the middle of the sea, the farthest you can see is always the same distance and if you look at the same distance in all directions you will be at the center in the end.

Not all galaxies are expanding away, andromeda is in course to collide with the milky way. We are going to be in the same space that Andromeda some day! but no worries, it's really improbable that even a star from Andromeda crash with a star of the milky way, the distance among those stars is huge!

We are not in the center of the universe, we look in all directions of the universe and how we can see the same distance it might feel like we are in the center, but it's not necessary true.
