Additive relationships
(a+b)+c=a+(b+c) associative property of addition
a+b=b+a

multiplacive relations
a(b+c)=ab+ac  distributive property of multiplication
a times 1=a identity property of 1
a times 0=0
(a*b)*c=a*(b*c)

14. a house-painting company charges 376$ plus 12$ an hour. Another painting company charges 280$ plus 15$ an hour.
Art [367]
One company charges:
$376 + $12*h

Other company charges:
$280 + $15*h

They will both charge the same when:

$376 + $12*h = $280 + $15*h

96 = 3*h

hours = 32
Cost will be $760

Double Check
$376 + $12 * 32 hours = $760

$280 + $15 * 32 hours = $760

At a military function, three cannons are fired at intervals of 12
Morgarella [4.7K]

Answer:

144 seconds

Step-by-step explanation:

To do solve this question, we must find the LCM (least common multiple) of 12, 16, and 18.

Let's start by prime factorizing (finding the prime factors) all the numbers.

12\rightarrow3*4\rightarrow2*2*3

16\rightarrow4*4\rightarrow2*2*2*2

18\rightarrow2*9\rightarrow2*3*3

Now, we must find the greatest quantity of each [prime] number and multiply them together to obtain the least common multiple.

Upon further evaluation of the [prime] factors, we can see that we need four 2s and two 3s. Therefore...

2*2*2*2*3*3=2^4*3^2=16*9=144

They will be fired together again after 144 seconds.

The position of an object at time t is given by s(t) = 7 - 14t. Find the instantaneous velocity at t = 7 by finding the derivati
katrin2010 [14]
Given the position function
s(t) = 7 - 14t

The instantaneous velocity is the derivative the the position function:
s'(t) = v = - 14

The velocity in an instant in time is 14 m/s in the opposite direction.
