Homologous chromosomes are chromosome pairs. They are<span> alike each other in size and centromere position. The position of the genes on each chromosome is the same, but the genes do not necessarily have the same alleles within.

Answer:

Chromosomes are found in pairs

Explanation:

Homologous chromosomes are chromosome pairs similar in lenght, gene positioning and centromere location but non-identical. They are donated by each parent (make and female). They are non-identical in the sense that the alleles on each pair may be different. For example, the chromosome donated by a female pea plant may contain a yellow allele for a particular gene while that donated by the male pea plant may contain a green allele.

A karyotype (a pictorial display of chromosomal arrangement) shows that in a diploid organism like humans, chromosomes are in two complete sets. Each human cell contains 23 pairs of chromosomes in which every chromosome pair represents a set of homologous chromosomes.

In each pair of chromosome, one chromosome is contributed by the male parent while the other by the female parent. In total, each parent contributes 23 chromosomes via gametes to form a total of 23pairs or 46chromosomes.

There are different types of nerves or mechanoreceptors located in your skin. Nerves that detect deep pressure are called _____.
UNO [17]

Nerves that detect deep pressure are called Pacinian corpuscles.

Pacinian corpuscles are microscopic onion-shaped nerve structures that are situated in the dermis and hypodermis. Pacinian corpuscles detect deep pressure and vibration. This nerve has a myelinated nerve ending in the middle of its structure and the external layer contains flattened cells, a lymph-like fluid and collagen fibers. The structure of pacinian corpuscles provides a fast response and rapid recovery by transmitting fast events. This make them sensitive to pressure and vibration.

What is the term that refers to the range of animal and plant species and the genetic variability among those species?
Gemiola [76]

Answer:

Biodervasity.

Explanation:

The term refers to the variety of life on earth.It demonstrates the extent of variation at different levels of species,genetic and ecosystem in a community of organisms.

It not equal in its distribution on earth;but rather varies with the type of ecosystem available and the distribution of biotic and abiotic factors in the ecosystem. For example;

It is highest in the Tropics,due to the species richness and diversity of the region. However, it varies in other ecosystem based on species diversity peculiar to parts of the region .e.g it is highest in the marine ecosystem along the coast of abundant temperature for primary producers.
