Select all that apply. How have fossils contributed to our understanding of evolution? Fossils can show the slow changes of macr
bagirrra123 [75]
All of the above points are valid for fossils' contributions in understanding the process of evolution. They allow us to study the ancestry, we can see the homologous organs or structures, if fossils are well-preserved; different fossils can lead us to follow the cycles of the changes that occurred during macroevolutions, and fossils can be used to study different populations which had different body structures for surviving in different environmental conditions.

Which one of the following statements is true of enzyme catalysts? A) Their catalytic activity is independent of pH. B) They are
muminat

Answer:

D) They can increase the reaction rate for a given reaction by a thousand-fold or more.

Explanation:

Enzymes are like catalysts with the only difference that they are bio-molecules. Biochemical/chemical reactions are slow because of 'transition state barriers' which require a lot of energy to overcome so enzymes rather than overcoming transition state barrier provide an alternate pathway for biochemical reactions which require comparatively less energy. Thus presence of an enzyme leads to an increase in reaction rate because alternate pathway which requires less energy makes the rate of chemical reaction rapid by a thousand-fold or more.

Why would a third-degree burn be less painful than a first- or second-degree burn involving the same body area?
Irina18 [472]
A third-degree burn would be less painful than a first- or second-degree burn involving the same body area because of the destruction of underlying pain receptors.
Nerve endings are destroyed in third-degree burns, which means that a person can no longer feel pain in that particular spot on the body. Third-degree burns are the most severe ones and cannot be treated easily - usually skin grafting or synthetic skin has to be used to replace the burnt skin.

What happens to the states of matter when the temperature changes
stepladder [879]

They may either release heat or gain heat. With a temperature increase, the kinetic energy increases and the state of matter will increase (example, ice to water aka solid to liquid)

If the temperature decreases, then the kinetic energy decreases and the state of matter will decrease (example, water vapor to water aka gas to liquid)

Have a nice day!

I hope this is what you are looking for, but if not - comment! I will edit and update my answer accordingly. (ノ^∇^)
