First you have to organize it like this
1 : 2 : 3 : 4
15 : 13: 11 : 9
If the sequence is decreasing then the nth term equation will start with a negative.try to see which will work -1,-2,-3,-4...
The answer is: x= -3n + 17

What is the answer for |x|=9
Maru [420]

The absolute value |x| returns the "positive version" of a number.

In other words, if the number is positive, it remains positive; if the number is negative, it changes sign.

So, if we want |x|=9, we want the "positive version" of x to be 9.

This can happen in two ways: if x is already 9, then its absolute value is still nine. If instead x=-9, its positive value will be 9 again.

In formula, we have

|x|=9 \iff x=\pm 9

because

|9|=9,\quad |-9|=9

Solve the following inequality algebraically. ∣x−5∣≤11
Serga [27]

Answer:

-6 ≤ x ≤ 16

Step-by-step explanation:

First, apply absolute value rule:

x - 5 ≤ 11 and x - 5 ≥ -11

Then, we add 5 on both sides with both inequalities:

x ≤ 16 and x ≥ -6

Finally, combine the inequalities:

-6 ≤ x ≤ 16

And we're done ^^
