Marissa bought a skirt on sale for $8.45 less that 60% off the original price. She paid $9.55 for the skirt. What was the origin
nadya68 [22]

Answer:

$23.88

Step-by-step explanation:

Represent the original price by p.

The sale price is (100% - 60%), or 40%, of p:

$9.55 = 0.40p

Dividing both sides by 0.40 results in:

p = $23.88 (rounded up from $23.875).

I saw the image that should accompany the above problem.

Courtyard: Length=22 ft; Width = 12 ft
Fountain: Length = 6 ft; Width = ?

Area of the courtyard = 22 ft * 12 ft = 264 square feet
Part of the courtyard covered with stone has an area of 246 square feet.

Area of the fountain = 264 square feet - 246 feet = 18 square feet.

A) Width of the fountain.
Area of the fountain = Length * width
18 square feet = 6 ft * w
18 sq.ft / 6ft = w
3 ft = width

B.) Fraction of the area of the courtyard will be occupied by the fountain.

Area of the fountain: 18 square feet
Area of the courtyard: 264 square feet

18/264 = 3/44

  18 ÷ 6 =   3
264 ÷ 6 = 44

Explain in math 8th grade - what mean, median and mode are?
irinina [24]
Mean - is the average of something. You basically find the sum of all the numbers then divide the sum by how many numbers you added so for example I have 1,3,4and 2
To find the average you add them first to get 10 then you divide this by 4 since I added 4 numbers.

Median - is the number that falls in the middle. First you gotta sort the numbers from smallest to biggest then pick the one in the middle for example is I have 7,5,9,2and 1. I gotta sort it —-> 1,2,5,7,9 then I pick the number in the middle which is 5. So 5 is the median

Mode- is the number that appears the most times. So if I have the set 3,7,5,3,9,4,1,3 the mode would be 3 because it appears the most times
