Answer:

If the higher power is in the denominator, put the difference in the denominator and vice versa, this will help avoid negative exponents and a repeat of step 3. Step 6: Raise each coefficient (or number) to the appropriate power and then simplify or reduce any remaining fractions. Step 1: Apply the Zero-Exponent Rule.

vazorg [7]

Answer: Y=54x + 60

Step-by-step explanation:

You add both project fees together ( 35 + 25 = 60) then you add together the hourly rates (20 + 34 = 54) and the hourly rate is your slope because it’s per hour and the 60 is your y intercept because it’s paid upfront.

If p(x) = 3+4x-4x^2 represents the profits in selling x thousand boombotix speakers, how many speakers should be sold to maximiz
Harman [31]

Hello from MrBillDoesMath!

Answer:   500

Discussion:

The idea is to represent p(x)  with a squared component...

3 + 4x - 4x^2 =

3  - ( 4x^2 - 4x) =

Add and subtract 1:

(3+1) - (4x^2-4x +1) =

4 - (2x-1)^2

To maximize profit we need to minimize the term (2x-1)^2  as it is always positive (or zero) and subtracts from the number 4.  The minimum of (2x -1)^2 occurs when 2x -1 = 0 or x = 1/2. Since x is the number of speakers in thousands, (1/2)x = 500 speakers.

Note: this problem can be more easily addressed in a Calculus course by taking the first derivative of p(x), setting it to zero, and solving for x (which yields x = 1/2 too)

Find exact length of the third side
vodomira [7]

Answer:

37

Step-by-step explanation:

This is a right triangle so we can find the lengths by using the Pythagorean theorem

a^2 + b^2 = c^2  where a and b are the legs and c is the hypotenuse

12^2 + 35^2 = c^2

144 +1225 = c^2

1369 = c^2

Take the square root of each side

sqrt(1369) = sqrt(c^2)

37 =c
