$a - 5 \times 5 = 12 \times a + 2$

$25a - 5 = 12a + 24$

$25a - 5 - 12 = 24$

$- 7a - 25 = 24$

$- 7a = 24 + 25$

$- 7a = 49$

$a = \frac{49}{ - 7}$

$a = - 7$

Using this let us find out the value of the proportional fractions .

$\frac{a - 5}{12} = \frac{ - 7 - 5}{12}$

$\frac{ - 12}{12}$

$\frac{a + 2}{5} = \frac{ - 7 + 2}{5}$

$\frac{ - 5}{5}$
