Photo math works, but just saying two step equations are pretty fun! The goal is to get the variable (x) by itself; alone on one side of the equal sign. I’m going to explain #1. 7x has to be by itself, so you will move the +9 over to the other side of the equal sign. When you move a number/thing over the equal sign, it turns negative (negative turns to positive, positive turns to negative). So, it will become 7x = 58 -9. You will do simple subtraction to get 7x = 49. Divide each side by 7 to get x by itself, and you have x = 7!

A triangle has one side length of 12 inches and another of 8 inches. Describe all possible lengths of the third side. Show and e
katrin [286]

Answer:

The third side must be smaller than 20 inches and greater than 4 inches

4

Step-by-step explanation:

Let a, b and c be the lengths of triangle's sides. Then

a+b>c\\ \\a+c>b\\ \\b+c>a

Use this rule in your case. So, if a=12 and b=8, then

12+8>c\\ \\12+c>8\\ \\8+c>12

Hence, you get

c-4\\ \\c>4

From these inequalities, you can state that

4

So, c must be smaller than 20 inches and greater than 4 inches.

BabaBlast [244]

Complete question is;

Multiple-choice questions each have 5 possible answers, one of which is correct. Assume that you guess the answers to 5 such questions.

Use the multiplication rule to find the probability that the first four guesses are wrong and the fifth is correct. That is, find P(WWWWC), where C denotes a correct answer and W denotes a wrong answer.

P(WWWWC) =

Answer:

P(WWWWC) = 0.0819

Step-by-step explanation:

We are told that each question has 5 possible answers and only 1 is correct. Thus, the probability of getting the right answer in any question is =

(number of correct choices)/(total number of choices) = 1/5

Meanwhile,since only 1 of the possible answers is correct, then there will be 4 incorrect answers. Thus, the probability of choosing the wrong answer would be;

(number of incorrect choices)/(total number of choices) = 4/5

Now, we want to find the probability of getting the 1st 4 guesses wrong and the 5th one correct. To do this we will simply multiply the probabilities of each individual event by each other.

Thus;

P(WWWWC) = (4/5) × (4/5) × (4/5) × (4/5) × (1/5) = 256/3125 ≈ 0.0819

P(WWWWC) = 0.0819
