What is the difference between melting and burning a substance? One mass conserved in another process?

Chemistry

The word "Melting" is directly related to liquefying something, such as when you melt ice. Burning something is essentially heating it up to the point that it turns into a gas then the gas becomes fire. Melting conserves the mass but in a different form. Burning converts the substance into a different form but then immediately consumes it. Hope this helps!

32 g of a metal, M, reacts with 8 g of oxygen to form an oxide. The formula of the oxide is MO. What is the atomic mass of M in
schepotkina [342]

Answer: M= 128 g/mol (Te is quite close)

Explanation: number of Oxygen moles is n = 8 g / 32 g/mol = 0,25 mol.

Because formula of oxide is MO, thus amount of metal is also 0,25 mol.

Because n = m/M , Molar mass of the metal M = m/n = 32 g /0.25 mol = 128 g/ mol

Calculate the volume of liquid in the round flask sketched below. give your answer in liters, and round to the nearest 0.01l .
vovangra [49]

Hey There!

Assuming the part of the round flask containing liquid to be perfect sphere, we can calculate it's volume.

Given diameter of sphere = 24 cm

Therefore radius of the sphere, r= 24/2= 12 cm

Volume of the sphere of diameter 24 cm = (4/3)*pi*r³ = 7,238.23 cm3

Conversion of cm³ to L

1 L= 1 dm³

1 dm = 10 cm

Therefore 1L= 1 dm³ = 1000 cm³

So the volume of liquid in the round flask = 7.24 L( round of to nearest 0.01 L)

How many aluminum atoms are in 2.88 g of aluminum?
alex41 [277]

Answer:

Explanation:

1 Mole of Aluminum with mass 26.98g contains 6.02*10^23 atoms.

In 2.88g of Aluminum, there are 2.88/26.98*6.02*10^23 = 6.426*10^22 atoms.
