Fresh water flows through a horizontal tapered pipe. At the wide end its speed is 8 m/s. The difference in pressure between the

two ends is 5338 Pa. What is the speed (in m/s) of the water at the narrow end? Round your answer to the nearest tenth.

Answer:

8.64 m/s

Explanation:

v1 = 8 m/s, v2 = ?, P2 - P1 = 5338 Pa, density of water, d = 1000 kg/m^3

By the use of Bernoulli's theorem

P 1 + 1/2 x d x v1^2 = P2 + 1/2 x d x v2^2

P2 - P1 = 1/2 x d x (v2^2 - v1^2)

5338 = 0.5 x 1000 x (v2^2 - 64)

10.676 = v2^2 - 64

v2^2 = 74.676

v2 = 8.64 m/s

A device that uses electromagnetic induction to transfer electrical energy from one circuit to another is a(n)_____.
Nutka1998 [239]

A device that uses electromagnetic induction to transfer electrical energy from one circuit to another is a transformer.

Which device uses electromagnetic induction to transfer electrical energy from one circuit to another?

 • A transformer is an electrical device that transfers energy from one electric circuit to another using the electromagnetic induction principle.
 • It is intended to change the AC voltage between the circuits while keeping the current's frequency constant.
 • A transformer work on the principle of electromagnetic induction in which flux is linked from primary to secondary.
 • Transformers accomplish this without establishing a conductive link between the two circuits. This is made feasible by using Faraday's Law of Induction, which explains how an electric circuit will interact with a magnetic field to produce an electromotive force (EMF).

You throw a rock straight up from the edge of a cliff. It leaves your hand at time t = 0 moving at 13.0 m/s. Air resistance can
Zarrin [17]

Answer:

0.36s, 2.3s

Explanation:

Let gravitational acceleration g = 9.81 m/s2. And let the throwing point as the ground 0 for the upward motion. The equation of motion for the rock leaving your hand can be written as the following:

s = v_0t + gt^2/2

where s = 4 m is the position at 4m above your hand. v_0 = 13 m/s is the initial speed of the rock when it leaves your hand. g = -9.81m/s2 is the deceleration because it's in the downward direction. And t it the time(s) it take to get to 4m, which we are looking for

4 = 13t - 9.81t^2/2

4.905 t^2 - 13t + 4 = 0

t= \frac{-b \pm \sqrt{b^2 - 4ac}}{2a}

t= \frac{13\pm \sqrt{(-13)^2 - 4*(4.905)*(4)}}{2*(4.905)}

t= \frac{13\pm9.51}{9.81}

t = 2.3 or t = 0.36

1. Determine the energy released per kilogram of fuel used.
Serga [27]

The formula for energy release per kilogram of fuel burned is energy release per kg=6.702*10-13. and 19. J 1 Mev = 1.602 X 10 T

Calculate the energy in joules per kilogram of reactants given MeV per reaction. Energy is the ability or capacity to perform tasks, such as the ability to move an item (of a certain mass) by exerting force. Energy can exist in many different forms, including electrical, mechanical, chemical, thermal, or nuclear, and it can change its form.
Think of a mole of plutonium-239 (molar mass: 239 grams) as a mole of "reactions."

Energy used in the US per person annually = 3-5 X 1011
Population (number of people) = 3.108The required mass of the fuel is 3.5x1011 x3-1x10 8x 10)/6.703 X1013 kg. the mass required: 1.62 x 1033 kg Mev in Joules 6 is equal to 101.60*I0-
19. J 1 Mev = 1.602 X 10 T, which translates to 1.602*1013/2.39x10-3 energy release per kilogram, or 6.702*10-13.
