Answer: P(3 or 8) = 7/18

Step-by-step explanation:

Each dice has 6 faces, so there are 36 possibilities in 2 dice.

Possibilities of them sum to 8: (2,6) (3,5) (4,4) (5,3) (6,2);

Probability of it happening: P(sum 8) = P(A) = 5/36

Possibilities of one die shows a 3: (1,3) (2,3) (3,3) (4,3) (5,3) (6,3) (3,1) (3,2) (3,4) (3,5) (3,6)

Probability of it happening: P(3) = P(B) = 11/36

Possibilities that happen at the same time: (3,5) (5,3)

Probability of happening: P(A∩B) = 2/36

The 'or' probability is to add the events and subtract the probabilities thata happens at the same time:

P(3 or sum 8) = P(A) + P(B) - P(A∩B)

P(3 or sum 8) = 5/36 + 11/36 - 2/36

P(3 or sum 8) = 14/36 = 7/18

Given condition is that two die are rolled together. So there are 36 combinations of two rolled dice. And the following have a sum of 8 : 2–6, 3–5, 4–4, 5–3 and 6–2. Out of these five combinations, 2 show the number 3.

So probability(sum is 8) becomes = \frac{5}{36}

And probability of (shows a number 3) becomes = \frac{2}{36}

Explain why ΔABC cannot be shown to be congruent to ΔCDA.
igomit [66]

There isn't enough info to prove the triangles to be congruent or not. So we can't say for sure either way.

We have angle CAD = angle ACB given by the arc markings, and we know that AC = AC due to the reflexive theorem. However we are missing one third piece of information.

That third piece of info could be....

 • AD = BC which allows us to use SAS
 • angle ACD = angle CAB which allows us to use ASA
 • angle ABC = angle CDA which allows us to use AAS (slight variation of ASA)

Since we don't know any of those three facts, we simply don't have enough information.

side note: If AB = CD, then this leads to SSA which is not a valid congruence theorem. If we had two congruent sides, the angle must be between the two sides, which is what AD = BC allows.

I need the value of X that has the same area please help
Svetllana [295]

Answer:

x = 10

Step-by-step explanation:

To find the value of x that will make the area of both figures to be equal, set the expression for the area of one figure equal to the other.

Thus:

(x + 5)×12 = x × 18

Solve for x

12x + 60 = 18x

Subtract 12x from each side

12x + 60 - 12x = 18x - 12x

60 = 6x

Divide both sides by 6

60/6 = 6x/6

10 = x

x = 10

8 less than four times a number is 12 determine the number
blondinia [14]

Answer:

5

Step-by-step explanation:

With this one, you need to work backwards.

First, you want to add 8 to 12, as addition is opposite subtraction. This gives you 20. Then, you want to divide 20 by 4, as division is the opposite of multiplication. That gives you 5, which is your answer.

It works the other way round if you were to check it. 5 x 4 is 20, 20 - 8 is 12.
