Sketch a system of two linear equations whose solution is (-1,3).

Mathematics

Answer:

The two equations are  y=x+4 and y=2x+5.

Step-by-step explanation:

Given that (-1,3) is solutions of the system of two linear equations.

Let y=mx + c be the generalized equation of line having slope m and y-intercept c.

For different values of m and c, there are corresponding linear equations.

As the lines are passing through the point (-1,3), so, pot x=-1 and y=3 in the generalized equation, we have

3=-1m+c \\\\\Rightarrow 3=-m+c \\\\\Rightarrow c-m=3\cdots(i).

All the real values of c and m which satisfy equation (i) are the desired linear equations.

As we required only two linear equations, take any two values of c and m.

For c=4 and m=1 (satisfying equation (i))

y=1\times x +4 \\\\\Rightarrow y=x+4

and for c=5, m=2

y=2\times x +5 \\\\\Rightarrow y=2x+5.

Hence, the two equations are  y=x+4 and y=2x+5.

Factorise x squared - 12x + 36
slava [35]

Answer:

(x-6)(x-6) or (x-6)^2

Step-by-step explanation:

x^2-12x+36=(x-6)(x-6)

Just find two numbers that when they multiply, you get the third term,

which is 36 in this case. And when they add up, you get the second term,

which is -12 in this case. You can also check the answer by multiplying.

(x-6)(x-6)=x^2-6x-6x+36=x^2-12x+36

What is the first step in solving the quadratic equation x^2=9 over 16
nikdorinn [45]

Answer:

"Take the square root of both sides of the equation"

A is correct

Step-by-step explanation:

We are given quadratic equation

We need to solve for x. We have to isolate x here.

Here square on x. So, first we get rid of square.

Taking square root both sides to get rid of square.

For example:

a2=25

sqare a2  = +- sqare 25

x2=9/16 to solve for x

sqare x2 +- sqre 9725

x=+- 3/5

Hence, "Take the square root of both sides of the equation"

Quotien of 6x^4-15x^3-2x^2-10x-4÷3x^2+2
Pachacha [2.7K]

Answer: (6x^4 - 15x^3 - 2x^2 - 10x - 4) ÷ (3x^2 + 2)

= (6x^4 - 15x^3 + 4x^2 - 6x^2 - 10x - 4) ÷ (3x^2 + 2)

= (6x^4 + 4x^2 - 15x^3  - 10x - 6x^2 - 4) ÷ (3x^2 + 2)

= 2x^2(3x^2 + 2) - 5x(3x^2 + 2) - 2(3x^2 + 2) ÷ (3x^2 + 2)

= (3x^2 + 2)(2x^2 - 5x - 2) ÷ (3x^2 + 2)

= 2x^2 - 5x - 2               Ans.

I hope this helped!!! NO HATE COMMENTS IF I WAS WRONG!!!
