In 1950/51 China tried to occupy Tibetan Autonomous Regions and made it an integral part of Chinese society. Although Tibet declared independence from China in 1913, the Chinese invaded Tibetan territories in 1950 by forcefully moving a huge number of Han Chinese into the Tibetan Regions to realize large economic, social, cultural, religious and political reforms.
Tibet was a part of the People's Republic of China, but it had a higher level of autonomy. However, the Communist Party of China became violent as Tibetan citizens attacked their troops in Tibet in order to declare Tibetan independence. The Chinese government responded to killing over 80,000 people.
Many Filipinos felt betrayed by the U.S. government after the Spanish-American War because the Filipinos thought they would be granted independence and did not want their homeland annexed by the U.S. Their leader, Emilio Aguinaldo, ordered his troops to attack American troops in the Philippines.
