Answer:

y =  -\frac{1}{2}x + 12

Step-by-step explanation:

Given expressions:

           Coordinates = (4,10)

  Equation of the line;  6x - 3y = 5

Unknown:

Equation of the line perpendicular = ?

Solution:

 A line perpendicular to the given one will have a negative inverse slope.

  Equation of any given line is expressed as:

              y  = mx + c

y and x are the coordinates

 m is the slope

 c is the intercept

             Now; re-write 6x-3y = 5 in the form y= mx + c and find the slope;

   6x - 3y = 5

          -3y = 5- 6x

            y = -\frac{5}{3} + 2x

The slope of a perpendicular line will be -\frac{1}{2}

Also, let us find the y-intercept, c;

         y  = mx + c

         10 =  -\frac{1}{2} x 4 + c

       10 = -2 + c

         c  = 12

The equation of the new line is ;

        y =  -\frac{1}{2}x + 12

Answer:

y =  -  \frac{ 5}{3} x + ( -  \frac{5}{3} )

Step-by-step explanation:

-3y=5-6x

y=5-6x÷(-3)

y=(-5/3)+2x

y=2x-(5/3)

At y-intercept x is 0 and y is -(5/3)

Gradient m=10-(-5/3)÷(4-0)

=35/12

y=mx+c

10=(35/12)4+c

c=-(5/3)

Suppose y varies directly with x, and y =24 when x=8. what is the value of y when x=10?
arlik [135]
The value of y when x is equal to 10 is 30. This is because for every value of x the value of y is 3. This can be known if you divide 24 by 8 you get 3. So if x=10 then y would equal 30.

Sally had 1000 photos to put into a photo album.She set 10 photos aside to place in frames.If her photo album fits 3 photos per
Kruka [31]

Answer:

Sally needed 330 pages of album to place her photos in it.

Step-by-step explanation:

Given:

Total number of photos = 1000

Number of photos kept aside to be place in frame = 10

Number of photos in per page of album = 3

We need to find the number of pages needed to place the photos in album.

Solution:

First we will find the number of photos to be place in album.

Now we know that she kept aside some photos which has to be frame framed.

So number of photos to be place in album can be calculated by Subtracting Number of photos kept aside to be place in frame from Total number of photos

framing in equation form we get;

number of photos to be place in album = 1000 - 10 = 990 photos

Now we will find number of pages needed to place the photos in the album.

number of pages needed to place the photos in the album can be calculated by dividing number of photos to be place in album with number of photos in per page of album.

framing in equation form we get;

number of pages needed to place the photos in the album = \frac{990}{3}= 330\ pages.

Hence Sally needed 330 pages of album to place her photos in it.

The prior probabilities for events A1 and A2 are P(A1) = 0.30 and P(A2) = 0.55. It is also known that P(A1 ∩ A2) = 0. Suppose P(
k0ka [10]

We're given the following probabilities:

P(A_1)=0.30

P(A_2)=0.55

P(A_1\cap A_2)=0

P(B\mid A_1)=0.20

P(B\mid A_2)=0.05

(a) Yes, A_1 and A_2 are mutually exclusive. This is exactly what zero probability of their intersection means. The two events cannot occur simultaneously.

(b) Use the definition of conditional probability to expand:

P(A_1\cap B)=P(A_1)P(B\mid A_1)=0.30\cdot0.20=0.06

P(A_2\cap B)=P(A_2)P(B\mid A_2)=0.55\cdot0.05=0.0275

(c) By the law of total probability,

P(B)=P(A_1\cap B)+P(A_2\cap B)=0.06+0.0275=0.0875

(d) Bayes' theorem says

P(A_1\mid B)=\dfrac{P(A_1)P(B\mid A_1)}{P(B)}=\dfrac{0.30\cdot0.20}{0.0875}\approx0.686

P(A_2\mid B)=\dfrac{P(A_2)P(B\mid A_2)}{P(B)}=\dfrac{0.55\cdot0.05}{0.0875}\approx0.314
