In a glider stunt at an air show, a towing airplane (motorized plane pulling the gliders) takes off from a level runway with two

gliders in tow. The gliders are pulled by two tow ropes, the first glider attached to the back of the towing plane and the second glider attached to the back of the first glider. The mass of each glider is 700 kg. The total resisting force (air drag plus friction with the runway) on each glider is equal to 3700 N. The resisting force can be assumed to be constant during the take off. The maximum allowed tension in the tow rope between the transport plane and the first glider is 12000 N. The maximum allowed tension in the second tow rope is the same as the first tow rope.
If the takeoff speed for the gliders and the plane is 40 m/s, what minimum length of runway is needed for take off? Express your answer in meters.

Answer:

minimum length of runway is needed for take off 243.16 m

Explanation:

Given the data in the question;

mass of glider = 700 kg

Resisting force = 3700 N one one glider

Total resisting force on both glider = 2 × 3700 N = 7400 N

maximum allowed tension = 12000 N

from the image below, as we consider both gliders as a system

Equation force in x-direction

2ma = T -f

a = T-f / 2m

we substitute

a = (12000 - 7400 ) / (2 × 700 )

a = 4600/1400

a = 3.29 m/s²

Now, let Vf be the final speed and Ui = 0 ( as starts from rest )

Vf² = Ui² + 2as

solve for s

Vf² = 0 + 2as

2as = Vf²

s = Vf² / 2a

given that take of speed for the gliders and the plane is 40 m/s

we substitute

s = (40)² / 2×3.29

s = 1600 / 6.58

s = 243.16 m

Therefore, minimum length of runway is needed for take off 243.16 m

For a 1 efficient step down transformer voltage in primary and secondary are equal current in primary and secondary are equal in
Fynjy0 [20]

The given condition for a 100% efficient step down transformer is not true.

How do Step-down Transformers work?

Because there are fewer turns in the secondary winding of a step-down transformer, the secondary voltage is lower than the initial voltage. As a result, this kind of transformer is employed to reduce the voltage to the levels intended for the circuit. Almost all power supply incorporate a step-down transformer to keep the operating voltage range of the circuit within acceptable limits. Electronic transformers and distribution systems are often where these transformers are installed (power transformers).

What Does a Step-Down Transformer Mean by Power?

Using the system voltage and current, we can calculate the power of a transformer. Volt-Amps, or VA, is the unit used to measure the power in a transformer (for larger transformers Kilo Volt-Amps, kVA).

Any transformer should, in theory, have constant power on both sides, which implies that the power available on the secondary side of the transformer should match the power available on the primary side. This also applies to step-down transformers. A step-down transformer's secondary side has a lower voltage than its primary side, hence in order to balance the transformer's total power, the secondary current would need to be increased.

What is the Step-Down Transformer's Relationship Between Voltage and Current?

In a step-down transformer, the output current is greater than the input current while the output voltage is lower than the primary voltage.

The ______ creates currents in the atmosphere and the hydrosphere.
padilas [110]
B. The solar energy is responsible for the currents being made in the atmosphese and the hydrosphere. It creates a convection current in the planet that maintains the flow of the air and the water in it. That's why you experience changes in temperature on the air during daytime and night, as well as varying currents on the seaside depending on the time of the day/night.

A moving bomb explodes into two pieces. A 2 kg fragment moves to the right at 15 m/s and the other fragment of mass 10 kg moves
Alla [95]

The initial velocity is obtained as 2.5 m/s.

What is the initial speed?

To obtain the initial speed, we have to apply the law of conservation of linear momentum which states that momentum before collision is equal to momentum after collision.

Now, the two fragments initially had one velocity before they were split in two directions opposite each other;

Applying the principle of conservation of linear momentum to this problem;

(2 + 10)v = (6 * 10) - (2 * 15) (they moved in opposite directions)

12v =60 - 30

12v = 30

v = 30/12

v = 2.5 m/s
