Solve using the properties of equality:
Distribute the Parenthesis.
$2*n-2*4=-1$
Simplify.
$2n-8=-1$
Add 8 to both sides.
$(2n-8)+8=(-1)+8$
Simplify.
$2n=7$
Divide both sides by 2.
$(2n)/2=(7)/2$
Simplify.
$n=7/2$
or
$n=3.5$
