The above problem has completed the first step, distributing both sides of the equation.

X=1

Add 4x to both sides
-4x+4x=0
8x+4x=12x

20=12x+8
Subtract 8 from both sides
20-8=12
12x=12

Divide those equations and that’s how I got the answer if I’m wrong I apologize....

Which of the following values are zeros for the function below g(x)=(x2+4x-12)(x-3)
Brilliant_brown [7]

Answer:

<h2>-6, 2 and 3</h2>

Step-by-step explanation:

g(x)=(x^2+4x-12)(x-3)=(x^2+6x-2x-12)(x-3)\\\\=[x(x+6)-2(x+6)](x-3)=(x+6)(x-2)(x-3)\\\\\text{The zeros for}\ g(x)=0:\\\\(x+6)(x-2)(x-3)=0\iff x+6=0\ \vee\ x-2=0\ \vee\ x-3=0\\\\x=-6\ \vee\ x=2\ \vee\ x=3

What function represents this graph??
mr Goodwill [35]

The required piecewise function that represents the graph is given as:

f(x)=\left \{ {{y = -3x-10} \atop y=-\frac{1}{2}x-3 } \atop y=-2x-6 }} \right.

<h3>Piecewise functions</h3>

The graph consists of 3 lines with different equations and slopes. In order to determine the function it represents, we will create a piecewise function.

For the line crossing the negative x-axis

Using the coordinate points (-4, 2) and (-2, -4)

Slope = -6/2

Slope = -3

2 = -3(-4) + b
2 - 12 = b

b = -10

The equation of the line will be y = -3x-10

For the line crossing the negative y-axis

Using the coordinate points (-2, -4) and  (2,-2)

Slope = 2/4

Slope = 1/2

-2 = 1/2(2) + b
-2 - 1 = b

b = -3

The equation of the line will be y = -1/2x-3

For the line crossing the positive x-axis

Using the coordinate points (2, -2) and (3, 0)

Slope = 2/1

Slope = 2

0 = 2(3) + b
0 - 6 = b

b = -6

The equation of the line will be y = 2x-6

The required piecewise function that represents the graph is given as:

f(x)=\left \{ {{y = -3x-10} \atop y=-\frac{1}{2}x-3 } \atop y=-2x-6 }} \right.

Bobby earns $5 for every car he washes. Which graph shows the amount Bobby will earn if he washes c cars?
Talja [164]
Here is a graph of the problem.
You can tell because the points are (1,5),(2,10),(3,15), ect. For every Car he washes we times by 5. Example: if he's washed 10 cars, he gets $50 because 10*5=50. We model this one the graph. When the X increases by 1 the Y increases by 5.
