Fran solved the equation 42 = x + 23. Although her final answer was correct, she could have found it in a simpler way. Which sen

tence best explains why? 23 should be added to the left side and 42 added to the right side. 23 should have been subtracted from, not added to, both sides of the equation. 42 should be subtracted from both sides. The variable must be moved to the left side of the equation.

Sarah lost her science book. Her school charges a lost book fee equal to 75% of the cost of the book. Sarah received a notice st
Scorpion4ik [409]

Answer: the school paid $80 for the book.

Step-by-step explanation:

Let x represent the amount that the school paid for the book.

Her school charges a lost book fee equal to 75% of the cost of the book. It means that the amount that the school would charge on a book that cost $x is

75/100 × x = 0.75 × x = 0.75x

Sarah received a notice stating that she owed the school $60 for he lost book. It means that

0.75x = 60

x = 60/0.75

x = $80

Please help me answer Questions A & B. I have Plenty of Points
inna [77]

1) To get equation B from equation A, we will add a quantity to the left hand side of equation A. The correct option is A. Add/subtract a quantity to/from only one side

2) The equations are not equivalent. They do not have the same solution

Equations

From the question, we are to determine how we can get equation B from equation A

From the given information,

A. 5x - 2 + x = x - 4

B. 5x + x = x - 4

From above, we can observe that to get equation B from equation A, we will add 2 to the left hand side of equation A

That is

5x - 2 + 2 + x = x + 4     →     5x + x = x + 4

Hence, to get equation B from equation A, we will add a quantity to the left hand side of equation A. The correct option is A. Add/subtract a quantity to/from only one side

2) The equations are not equivalent. They do not have the same solution

Algebra:Can someone help I don’t know where I went wrong but my answer is wrong
evablogger [386]

Hey there!!

3 ( x - 6 ) + 15 = 4 ( x - 1 ) + 4

3x - 18 + 15 = 4x - 4 + 4

3x - 3 = 4x

- 3 = x

x = -3

The mistake is , you have written -4 + 4 = 8

- 4 + 4 = 0

and - 18 + 15 = - 3 ( not - 33 )

correct it, you will get it

Hope helps!
