Insertion and deletion result in a frameshift mutation. Frameshift mutations caused by "indel" mutations, meaning insertion or deletion mutations. These mutations shift the way the DNA is read. A frameshift mutation can throw off all of the nucleotide that follow in a DNA sequence, making them particularly likely to lead to significant consequences.

A frameshift mutation is a mutation that leads to a change in the reading frame potentially changing the translation of the gene.
Insertion and deletion are the types of mutations that may cause a frameshift mutation. By inserting or deleting a base pair or whole sequences of DNA, the reading frame is altered and if these mutations interrupt a codon or are not multiple of three then the final translation of the gene won't be the same thanks to the triplet nature of gene expression by codons.

Which statement best explains why correct protein folding is critical in the transmembrane protein shown above?
amid [387]

The statement 'interactions of the hydrophobic and hydrophilic amino acids help to anchor the protein in the membrane' explains why protein folding is critical. This process is fundamental for the function of transmembrane proteins.

Protein folding refers to the process by which a polypeptide (i.e., a protein) adopts its final tridimensional 3D shape (conformation).

In a protein, some amino acids contain hydrophilic R groups, whereas other amino acids contain hydrophobic R groups.

During protein folding, hydrophobic amino acids are arranged so they can interact with the long chains of the fatty acids in the internal region of the lipid bilayer, whereas hydrophilic amino acids are arranged so they interact with water on the surface of the cell membrane.

In 3 sentences explain how photosynthesis and cellular respiration are interrelated.
fenix001 [56]

Answer: Photosynthesis produces glucose cellular respiration uses glucose produced by photosynthesis.

Photosynthesis produces oxygen while cellular respiration uses oxygen produced by photosynthesis.

Photosynthesis uses carbon dioxide released in cellular respiration while cellular respiration produces carbon dioxide

Explanation: The products of photosynthesis are the reactants in cellular respiration while the products of cellular respiration are the reactants of photosynthesis. One reaction depends on the other to furnish it with the reactants. Photosynthesis depends on cellular respiration for the supply of carbon dioxide and water while cellular respiration depends on photosynthesis for the supply of oxygen and glucose. The balanced chemical equation for photosynthesis is 6CO2 + 6H2O+ sunlight --> C6H12O6 + 6O2

The balanced chemical for cellular respiration is C6H12O6 + 6O2 --> 6CO2 + 6H2O + Energy

Study the characteristics of the channel in this picture. What might the river look like following this type of channel?
andreyandreev [35.5K]

Answer:

C) a mature river

Explanation:

The channel on the image shows a meandering river. This basically means that the river managed to erode the banks and it has taken a snake-like shape, better known as meander. A river that exhibits such a thing is a mature river. This can be supported by the fact that the river needs long time to be able to erode the surrounding area, especially when it comes to flatter land. A young river will be mostly straight and will have its flow determined by the landscape around it, but a mature river has had the time to make its own path, to erode parts o the landscape, and take a certain shape, in this case a meander.
