You test 8 automobiles of the same make and model and find their mileage ratings to be 25, 25, 26, 27, 30, 31, 32, and 1,000,000

mpg, arranged in order from smallest to largest. If you use inferential statistics (and reject the outlier) to predict what mileage consumers can expect when they buy this type of car, what value will you predict?

 28 mpg is the average so that is what they should expect.

Answer:

mileage consumers can expect when they buy this type of car is:

28

Step-by-step explanation:

We are given the ratings of 8 automobiles as:

25   25    26    27    30    31    32     1000000.

Clearly the data set is arranged in the ascending order.

Clearly from the data set we could see that the rating 1000000 is an outlier because it is a different and a much higher value as compared to the other data points.

Now after removing the outlier we get the points as:

25   25    26    27    30    31    32

Now, the average mileage from these cars will be equal to the mean:

Mean=\dfrac{25+25+26+27+30+31+32}{7}\\\\Mean=\dfrac{196}{7}\\\\Mean=28

hence, mileage consumers can expect when they buy this type of car is:

28

Find the equation of the line of symmetry of y= (x+2)(x-8).
Daniel [21]

Answer:

line of symmetry , x = 3

Step-by-step explanation:

Standard form of quadratic equation  is y = ax^2 + bx + c, where a, b, and c equal all real numbers. You can use the formula x = -b / 2a to find the line of symmetry.

y = (x+ 2)(x-8)\\\\y = (x^2 -8x + 2x -16)\\\\y = x^2 -6x -16

a = 1, b = -6, c = -16

Line of symmetry is ,

                           x = -\frac{b}{2a} = -\frac{-6}{2}  = 3

I need help ASAP like I might actually fail
natulia [17]

2x + 7 ≤ 3x - 5

Start by keeping the variable x on the left side of the inequality, and move everything else to the right side.

We can do this by subtracting 3x from both sides and subtracting 7 from both sides.

-x ≤ -12

Divide both sides by -1 to make x a positive; when dividing by a negative number you will flip the inequality sign, so ≤ becomes ≥.

x ≥ 12

Possible solutions for x are any number equal to or greater than 12.

Write 2603094 using exponents?
Artemon [7]
2*10^6 + 6*10^5 + 3*10^3 +9*10^1 +4*10^0

see expanded form is adding the digits together. and it would be what ever one number is times 10 to the power of how many digits are after that number. you skip the 0's though. hope this helps
