Maria scored 72, 97, and 82 on her first three math tests. She wants to have a mean score of 82 for the quarter. How many points
Rom4ik [11]

Answer:

<em>She needs </em><em>77 </em><em>on her last test to earn an 82 for the quarter.</em>

Step-by-step explanation:

Maria scored 72, 97, and 82 on her first three math tests.

She wants to have a mean score of 82 for the quarter.

Let us assume that she must score x on her last test to earn an 82 for the quarter.

So the average score will be,

=\dfrac{72+97+82+x}{4}

But the average score is given as 82, so

\Rightarrow \dfrac{72+97+82+x}{4}=82

\Rightarrow 72+97+82+x=82\times 4

\Rightarrow 72+97+82+x=328

\Rightarrow x=328-72-97-82

\Rightarrow x=77

This question is confusing to me so I really would like a clear explanation thank you
Wewaii [24]
So the first hour it travels from 1-6 miles, the second hour it travels at least two miles. And the question is "draw the range of miles the boat could of traveled in the second hour". Well first of all the third hour is completely useless so forget about that. Now, the first hour says it traveled from 1-6 miles, we don't know how many miles it traveled for sure but it could of traveled up to 6. So in the second hour when they say "at least two miles" the boat could of travled at least two miles more than 1-6. So 1+2+3, 2+2+4, 3+2=5, 4+2=6, 5+2=7 and 6+2=8. So the boat could of traveled from 3 to 8 miles in the second hour.

Write an inequality and solve each problem. For exercises 11 and 12, interpret the solution.
kifflom [539]

9) inequality: 4+x>13 Solution: x>9
10) x+19 ≥ 8.2 ; x≥-10.8
11) (Sorry I don’t know what the question means by “interpret”) 17+x ≤ 26; Solution: x ≤9
12) 785+x≤1500; Solution: x≤715
