Ms. Redmon gave her theater students an assignment to memorize a dramatic monologue to present to the rest of the class. The graph shows the times, rounded to the nearest half minute, of the first 10 monologues presented.

The next student presents a monologue that is about 0.5 minutes long. What effect will this have on the graph?

The mean will decrease.

Which function can be used to model the graphed geometric sequence?
andreev551 [17]

Answer: The correct option is 1, i.e., f(x+1)=\frac{5}{6}f(x).

Explanation:

The geometric sequence is in the form of,

a,ar,ar^2,ar^3,....

Where, a is the first term of the sequence and r is the common ratio of the sequence.

It means the n_{th} term of the sequence is defined as,

a_n=ar^{n-1}

So the the (n+1)_{th} term of the sequence is defined as,

a_{n+1}=ar^n

a_{n+1}=r(ar^{n-1})

a_{n+1}=ra_n

It means the geometric sequence is in the form of,

f(x+1)=rf(x)

Where, r be any constant.

From the options only f(x+1)=\frac{5}{6}f(x) is in the form of f(x+1)=rf(x) with common ratio \frac{5}{6}.

Therefore, the function can be used to model the graphed geometric sequence is f(x+1)=\frac{5}{6}f(x) .

What is the effect on the graph of the parent function f(x) = x when f(x) is replaced with 4f(x)?
guajiro [1.7K]
Remark
The way this is written I would assume that it means 4*f(x) = x. That may not be entirely the correct assumption to be made.

Step One
Replace f(x) by 4f(x)
4*f(x) = x

Step two
Divide both steps by 4
f(x) = x/4 or (1/4)x
The slope is now 1/4

Discussion
A is incorrect.
The slope has been changed.

B is incorrect
The slope has been changed to 1/4 and the y intercept is still 0

C looks to be the right answer.

D The y intercept is still zero.

Comment
The question is a little hard to interpret. I've read it literally. That means that I have taken the question to mean that only f(x) was altered. If however, the right side was multiplied by 4 as well (as should be done), then the answer is A same slope same intercept. That's because the 4s on the left and right cancel, and the original equation results. I'm going to pick C but don't be surprised if it is A

WORTH 100 POINTS!!! PLEASE HELP
musickatia [10]

Answer:

Graph the triangle at points (1,5), (1,8), and (6,8)

Step-by-step explanation:

Since the rule is (x,y) -> (y,x), that just means swapping the value of x and y.

The first point (5,1) has 5 for x and 1 for y. If you swap the values, you get 1 for x and 5 for y, or (1,5).

The second point is (8,6). If you swap x and y you get (6,8). Notice I'm not doing the inverse of each number by making them negative, just swapping the twp values.

The third point is (8,1) and if you swap x and y you should get (1,8).

The transformation rule applies to ALL points, otherwise it wouldn't look right and it wouldnt be transforming.

I hope this helps :)

el producto de tres números es 1000 y su suma es 39. Si se sabe que el primero es al segundo como el segundo es al tercero, hall
pentagon [3]

Answer: The difference between the larger and smaller number is 21.

Step-by-step explanation:

This can be translated to:

"the multiplication between 3 numbers is 1000 and the addition is 39.

If the first number is at the second like the second at the third, find the difference between the smaller and the larger number"

If A is the first number, B the second and C the third we have that:

A*B*C = 1000

A + C + B = 39

A/B = B/C

From the third equation we have that:

A*C = B*B

we can replace it in the first equation and get:

B*(A*C) = 1000

B*B*B = B^3 = 1000

B = \sqrt[3]{1000} = 10

So now we have the value of B.

Now we have the two equations:

A + 10 + C = 39

A*C = B*B = 10*10 = 100

We can isolate A in the first equation and get:

A = 39 - 10 - C = 29 - C

now we can replace it in the second equation:

(29 - C)*C = 100

29C - C^2 - 100 = 0

We need to find the roots of that equation, we can use the Bhaskara's function:

C = \frac{-29 +- \sqrt{29^2 - 4*(-1)*(-100)} }{2*(-1)} = \frac{-29 +- 21}{-2}

Where we have two possible values for C

C = (-29 - 21)/(-2) = 25

C = (-29 + 21)/(-2) = 4

Let's chose C = 4, because C is the smaller value. (A will take the other value)

Then we have:

A + B + C = 39

A + 10 + 4 = 39

A = 39 - 14 = 25

Then the difference between the larger and smaller number is:

A - C = 25 - 4 = 21
