"Legends" are narratives that are believed to have<em> taken place in the past or in the old days.</em> The excerpt above starts by saying<em> "Long ago"</em> and this entails that <u>the story happened in the human history.</u> We can conclude that the setting is in the<em> early period </em>because it mentioned about hunting for furs and meat. This was a common activity for humans in the past.
Unlike myths, which focuses on gods and goddesses, legends center on<em> historical heroes</em>. It also follows a particular setting, which means that the story occurred in a <u><em>specific time and place.</em></u>
It's not "strength of a hero figure" or "fictitious or invented ideas" because there was nothing made up and there was no character building. I think it's an exaggerated fact because they exaggerated when this happened and also at the end, but still put fact into it. So that's why I think its a exaggerated fact more than an early period setting example.
