Help Me Please. Which graph represents the solutions to the inequality |2x − 8| < 2?

Given |2x − 8| < 2, simplify this by dividing all terms by 2:

|x − 4| < 1

Think of 4 as the "center." Then the distance from 4 in either direction cannot equal 1 or more. Thus, the third answer choice is the one you want.  The "solution set" lies between 3 and 5, but does NOT include the endpoints 3 and 5.

Hey there!

|2x -8|  < 2

This equation is a "and" problem

So, add 8 to both of your sides!

2x -8 +8

We get: 2x <  10

Divide by 2 to your sides

\frac{2x}{2} <  \frac{10}{2}  \\ \\ Cancel: \frac{2x}{2}  \\ \\ \\  Keep: \frac{10}{2} \\ \\ \\ \frac{10}{2}  =  5\\ \\ \\ Answer: x  < 5

Or you can use this add this part to your equation because this is a two step inequality

Add 8 to your sides again

2x - 8 +8 > -2 + 8 \\ \\ \\ Cancel: -8 + 8 \\ \\ \\ Keep: -2 + 8  \\ \\ \\ -2 + 8 = 6

We get: 2x > 6

Divide by 2 on each of your sides

\frac{2x}{2}  > \frac{6}{2}  \\ \\ \\ Cancel: \frac{2x}{2} \\ \\ \\ Keep: \frac{6}{2}  \\ \\ \\ x > 3

Answer: x< 5 and x> 3

Overall answer: C

Good luck on your assignment and enjoy day!

Write an equation for each vertical translation of y=f(x) .<br> 2 units up.
Damm [24]

The equation for the vertical translation of y=f(x). 2 units up is y=f(x)+2.

Using equations of the form y=f(x), you may be able to modify the graph in various ways. For example, you can move the chart up, down, left, or right, flip it around the x or y-axis, or stretch or shrink it vertically or horizontally. Understanding these transformations makes it easy to graph different functions. Start with a "basic model" and apply a series of transformations/modifications to change it to the desired function.

A point on the graph of y=f(x) has the shape (x,f(x)).

The points on the graph of y=f(x)+2 are of the form (x,f(x)+2).

So, the graph for y=f(x) +2 is the same as the graph for y=f(x) shifted up by 2 units.

The new equation is:

y=f(x)+2

More problems related to the translation of shapes are given below.

Jordan bikes at a speed of 8 2/3 mph. How many miles will he bike in 3 hours and 6 minutes?
Veronika [31]

Answer:

He will bike <u>26.87 miles</u>.

Step-by-step explanation:

Given:

Jordan bikes at a speed of 8 2/3 mph.

Now, to find the distance he will bike in 3 hours and 6 minutes.

<u><em>Speed</em></u> =  8\frac{2}{3}=\frac{26}{3}\ mph.

<u><em>Time</em></u> = 3 hours and 6 minutes

         = 180+6=186\ minutes.

As, 60 minutes = 1 hour.

         = \frac{186}{60} =3.1\ hours.

So, to get the distance we put formula:

Distance=speed\times time

Distance=\frac{26}{3} \times 3.1

Distance=\frac{80.6}{3}

Distance=26.87\ miles.

Therefore, he will bike 26.87 miles.

Tickets for a concert cost $10 each if you order them online, but you must pay a service charge of $8 per order. The tickets are
jekas [21]

Answer:

The system of equation to model the situation are:

C = 10t + 8

C = 12t

Step-by-step explanation: Complete question ( Let C be the total cost and let t be the number of tickets).

Ordering tickets online cost $10 plus additional service charge of $8.

Therefore total cost,C = 10t + 8

Buying tickets at the door cost $12

Therefore, total cost,C = 12t

The system of equation to model the situation are:

C = 10t + 8

C = 12t
