All in all, we are selecting from a pool of 17 members (4+9+4 = 17). So seeing we have 4 democrats, the probability would be 4/17.

Normally we would simplify the fraction from there but 4/17 is already the simplified form. Therefore that is already the answer.

At a school carnival, the diameter of the mat of a trampoline is 10 feet and the diameter of its metal frame is 12 feet. What is
GaryK [48]

pi is the ratio of circumference to the diameter of same circle. The length of the metal frame of trampoline considered is: Option D:  37. 7 feet.

<h3>How to find the length of the outer line of a circle?</h3>

Length of the outer line of a circle is called its circumference.

If the circle has got radius of r units length, then

Circumference of that circle = 2π r units = πd units where d is diameter of that circle.

This is why, we get the ratio of circumference to diameter as:

\dfrac{Circumference}{Diameter} = \pi

It is given that the trampoline in consideration has got diameter of 12 feet.

It is said that π = 3.14 to be considered (its not its exact value though).

Therefore, we get

\rm Circumference/12 = 3.14\\\\\text{Multiplying 12 on both sides}\\\\Circumference = 12 \times 3.14 = 37.68 \: \rm feet \approx 37.7 \: feet

Hence, the length of the metal frame of trampoline considered is obtained as: Option D:  37. 7 feet.

What is an equation of the line that passes through the point (-5,3)(−5,3) and is parallel to the line 3x-5y=303x−5y=30?
rosijanka [135]

The equation of the line which passes through the point (-5, 3) and is parallel to the equation 3x -5y = 30 is; 3x -5y = 30.

<h3>What is the equation of the line?</h3>

Since the line is parallel to the given line; 3x -5y = 30 whose slope is; 3/5.

Hence, since the two lines have equal slopes;

3/5 = (y-3)/(x-(-5))

3/5 = (y-3)/(x+5)

5y -15 = 3x +15

3x -5y = 30
