Semmy [17]
You should put 4 as x, -3 as y and a as slope to make an equation :
- 3 =  a \times 4
then you can find the slope and the correct equation of the line :

the slope is :
- 3 = 4a \\ a =  \frac{ - 3}{4}
so the equation of the line will be
y =  \frac{ - 3}{4}  x
D is true
hope this helps

Nastasia [14]

Answer: Cost price of each pair of socks is $6.25.

Step-by-step explanation:

Given: The total amount spent by Julie before tax= $40.50

Cost price of a pair of shorts =$21.75

Now, Cost price of 3 socks =\$40.50-\$21.75=\$18.75

Therefore, Cost price of 3 socks =$18.75

Let x be the cost price of each pair of socks.

\Rightarrow3x=18.75\\\Rightarrow\ x=\frac{18.75}{3}\\\Rightarrow\ x=6.25

Hence, cost price of each pair of socks is $6.25.
