Answer:

Explanation:

Answer: 2 They are composed of molecules that contain carbon-carbon bonds.

3. They undergo chemical reactions to use energy they acquire from the environment.

Living things includes all the organisms that display features which make them distinct from non-living organisms. The living organisms have an organized structure, they are composed of cells, they require energy to survive or sustain existence, they are able to reproduce and they exhibit ability to grow.

They are composed of molecules that contain carbon-carbon bonds: Carbon is the main component present in all living things. They make up the organic biomass of these living organisms.

They undergo chemical reactions to use energy they acquire from the environment: The plants traps sunlight energy and converts it into food and lastly into chemical energy in the form of ATP. This ATP is used as a energy reservoir for metabolic processes occurring in the plants. Therefore, energy is generated after chemical reactions.

4. What is the altitude and latitude of the jet stream in the summer?
Kamila [148]

Answer: The actual appearance of jet streams result from the complex interaction between many variables - such as the location of high and low pressure systems, warm and cold air, and seasonal changes. They meander around the globe, dipping and rising in altitude/latitude, splitting at times and forming eddies, and even disappearing altogether to appear somewhere else.

Which of the following sentences state a significant conclusion that Gregor Mendel drew from his experiments with pea plants? Tr
Olenka [21]

Mendel concluded that the alternative forms of each trait are coded by discrete factors, which were called alleles that combine in pairs to express the trait. Traits are inherited in discrete units and are not the result of "blending."

------------------------

After making many crosses that involved different traits -such as plant height, or flower colors-, Mendel observed that, per trait, the F1 only expressed one of the alternative forms, while de other one disappeared.

Mendel named dominant the expressed variant.

Mendel then let these new plants auto pollinate and observed the results in the second generation, F2.

He saw that the variants that had previously disappeared among the F1, reappeared again. Both alternatives for each trait were present in the F2.

Mendel named recessive the second alternative variant.

Mendel explained his results by arguing that discrete factors were responsible for these phenotypes.

 • These factors should have been present in the F1 in pairs.

 • One of them came from one parental plant, and the other factor came from the other plant.

 • These factors separated again during sex cells formation, producing two types of gametes, each with only one factor.

Mendel conclusion about his experiments was that per trait -flower color of plant length-, each plant had a pair of factors -which he named alleles-, and that each factor coded for one of the alternative forms of the traits -white or purple, tall or short-.

He thought that alleles separate -segregate- during the process of gamete formation.

The First Mendel's Law is the first conclusion he took about his experiments and is known as the segregation principle.

Features of xerophytes
SVETLANKA909090 [29]

Answer:

Xerophyte survival characteristics:

Thick cuticle.

Stomatal closure.

Reduction in # of stomata.

Stomata hidden in crypts or depressions in leaf surface (less exposure to wind and sun).

Reduction in size of transpiration surface (lower leaf only).

Increased water storage.

Explanation:

Xerophyte adaptations increase water intake, limit water loss, and store water efficiently. Water intake adaptations include deep or widespread roots, and high salt content to increase osmosis. Xerophytes have thick cuticles, lost or finely divided leaves, reduced stomata, and CAM photosynthesis
