 jose is 9 and Sophia is 7 because 32 divided by 2= 16 and 9+7=16 and jose is 2 years older so he has to be nine and she is seven!!! hahaha I figured it out finally

Again, guess and test should work perfectly fine.  Since 2(x+y)=32, x+y = 16. Because y-2 =x, y could be = 9 and x = 7. Hope that help!
