Read the excerpt from a student’s essay. Coastal towns should protect themselves from floods by building sand walls that keep ou

t water from oceans, lakes, and rivers. However, some say that these sand walls are an eyesore. They reduce the value of the homes and buildings that they try to protect because they look bad. Which statement presents the best rebuttal to address the counterclaim? The value of the coastal homes is more important than oceans, lakes, and rivers. The protection of homes and buildings in coastal towns with sand walls is important. Sand walls may be ugly, but the protection of people and property is more important. People living along the coasts should seriously consider moving further inland.

Misha Larkins [42]

The correct answer to this open question is the following.

Wollstonecraft's conceptualization of equality differed from that of Rousseau in that Rousseau considered that equality in education should be based on the natural abilities and capacities of a person. How did Europeans justify imperialism in Africa's interior?
svet-max [94.6K]

Answer:

d.) They claimed that Africans were naturally inferior to Europeans and needed to be "civilized" and converted to Christianity

Explanation:

At that time, the Europeans believed that as a good christian, they have to spread the word of Gospel to as many people as they can. Since the most Africans did not believe in Christianity, European believed that by colonizing and making the local African people learn about Christianity is a way for them to do God's work.

Not all people in Europe believed this of course. Since regardless of their justification, the fact is that many Africans were killed and forced to work to death during the Imperialism period.

Over time, the number of people who opposed Imperialism started to grow and European Imperialism started to crumble in 1800s.
