Nathanial is using the quadratic formula to solve 0=x^2+5x-6. His steps are shown below. What are the solutions to the equation?
ollegr [7]

Answer:

x=1, x=-6

Step-by-step explanation:

x^2+5x-6=0 can be reduced to (x+6)(x-1)=0

we now have x+6=0 and x-1=0

solve by subtracting 6 from each side in the first equation and adding 1 to each side in the second.

x=1, x=-6

Jenny has 3 times as many new toys as she has favorite toys. The total number of toys is 60. How many favorite toys might Jenny
Ray Of Light [21]

Answer:Jenny has 15 favorite toys

Step-by-step explanation:

Jenny has 3 times as many new toys as she has favorite toys means that the ratio of new toys to favorite toys can be written as 3:1

Total Ratio=3+1=4

Since the total number of toys is given as 60

Amount of Favorite toys = ratio of favorite toys / Total ratio x Total number of toys

Amount of Favorite toys = 1/4 x 60=15

Therefore Jenny has 15 favorite toys.

How is the process of rewriting literal equations similar to the process of solving equations in one variable?How is it differen
TEA [102]
A literal equation<span> is, simply put, an equation that has a lot of letters or variables.
example :
A = bh
Lets solve it for b.
A = bh
A/h = bh / h
A/h = b

Now lets say we have equation in one variable like 10 = 5x
we can find x simply by,  x = 10 / 5 = 2

The way of solving it similar. The difference is literal equation have more variables, you solve for certain variable in terms of another variables while in one variable you get the direct number.
