The equation representing the decomposition of BaCO₃ is as follow:
                           BaCO₃(s) ⇄ BaO(s) + CO₂(g)
Standard Gibbs-free energy (ΔG⁰) = 220 kJ/mol
Gas constant (R) = 8.314 x 10⁻³ kJ/K.mol
Temperature (T) =25 + 273 = 298 K
ΔG⁰ = - R T lnK
ln K = - ΔG⁰ / RT = - 88.8
K = e^{-88.8} = 2.7 x 10⁻³⁹
So the equilibrium constant of the reaction at 298 K is 2.7 x 10⁻³⁹
From the equation:
Equilibrium constant Kp = Pco₂
P_{CO_{2}} = 2.7 x 10⁻³⁹ atm

The correct answer is 2.7 x 10^-39 atm

The expression:

when BaCO3 is placed in an evacuated flask, So the reaction equation of the decomposition of the BaCO3 is as the following:

BaCO3(s) ⇄ BaO(s) + CO2(g)

so the Kp expression for this reaction is:

Kp = P(CO2)

because Kp expression is including only (g) gas phase.

-now we need to get the value of K by using the following formula:

ΔG⁰ = - R T lnK

when Standard Gibbs-free energy (ΔG⁰) = 220 kJ/mol

and Gas constant (R) = 8.314 x 10⁻³ kJ/K.mol

and Temperature (T) is in kelvin =25 + 273 = 298 K

ln K = - ΔG⁰ / RT = - 88.8

∴ K = e^{-88.8} = 2.7 x 10⁻³⁹

so, from the Kp expression ∴ P(CO2) = Kp

∴ P (CO2) = 2.7 x 10^-39 atm

Which statement is true about the atomic mass?
nikdorinn [45]

the correct answer is A.

Each atom has three sub particles, which are electron, proton and neutron. To get the atomic mass for each atom, one has to add the masses of the proton, neutron and electron in an atom. For each atom, the major contributors to its mass are proton and neutron, this is because the mass of the electron is very small indeed. Thus, the atomic mass of an element is usually in the range of its mass number, which is obtained by the summation of proton and neutron. Since it is the number of proton that indicate an atomic number and it is the mass number that indicate atomic mass, therefore, atomic mass can be greater than the atomic number.

What would the temperature of 0.734 moles of chlorine gas be at 1.83 atmospheres in a 10.2
lesya [120]

Answer: 310K

Explanation:

Given that:

Volume of Chlorine gas V = 10.2L

Temperature T = ?

Pressure P = 1.83 atm

Number of moles of chlorine gas N = 0.734 moles

Molar gas constant R is a constant with a value of 0.0821 atm L K-1 mol-1

Then, apply ideal gas equation

pV = nRT

1.83atm x 10.2L= 0.734 moles x 0.0821 atm L K-1 mol-1 x T

18.67atm L = 0.0603 atm L K-1 x T

T = (18.67atm L / 0.0603 atm L K-1)

T = 309.8K (Round up to 310K)

Thus, the temperature of the chlorine gas is 310 kelvin
