Can someone please help with these 2 word problems ASAP.
PolarNik [594]

Answer:

4.     4.66hours

5.  time_trip = 2.777 h

Step-by-step explanation:

4. A jet plane travels 2 times the speed of a commercial airplane. The distance between Vancouver and Regina is 1730 km. If the flight from Vancouver to Regina on a commercial airplane takes 140 minutes longer than a jet plane, what is the time of a commercial plane ride of this route?

We know that

Speed_commercial = distance/ time_comm

Speed_commercial = 1730 km/ time_comm

Then,

Speed_jet = distance/ time_jet = 2*Speed_commercial

Speed_jet =   1730 km/ time_jet = 2*Speed_commercial

time_comm = 2.333 h + time_jet

1730 km/ time_jet = 2*1730 km/ time_comm

time_comm = 2*time_jet

time_comm = 2*(time_comm  - 2.333h)

time_comm = (2*time_comm  - 4.666h)

time_comm  = 4.666 h

5. A man goes fishing in a river and wants to know how long it will take him to get 10km upstream to his favourite fishing location. The speed of the current is 3 km/hr and it takes his boat twice as long to go 3km upstream as is does to go 4km downstream. How long will it take his boat to get to his fishing spot?

Distance = 10 km upstream

Speed_current = 3 km/h

Upstream

(Speed_boat - Speed_current)  = 3 km / (2*time_downstream)

Downstream

(Speed_boat + Speed_current)  = 4 km / (time_downstream)

We subtract both equations

(Speed_boat + Speed_current) - (Speed_boat - Speed_current) = 4 km / (time_downstream) - 3 km / (2*time_downstream)

2*Speed_current = (5/2 km)/ time_downstream

2*(3 km/h)= (5/2 km)/ time_downstream

time_downstream = 0.416 h

(Speed_boat + 3km/h)  = 4 km / (0.416 h)

Speed_boat  = 6.6 km/h

Trip upstream

(Speed_boat - Speed_current)  = 10 km / (time_trip)

time_trip = 10 km/(3.6 km/h) = 2.777 h

time_trip = 2.777 h

I need help I don’t understand any of thisl
Natalija [7]
Note! Every triangle must add up to 360°

1. x =
(×+29°) + (x+19°) + 84° = 360°
x + x + 29° + 19° + 84°= 360°
2x + 48° + 84°= 360°
2x + 132° = 360°
2x = 228°
x = 114°

m(angle)A =
(x+29°)
(114°+29°)=143°

m(angle)B=
(x+19°)
(114°+19°)=133°

3. is a bit different

(3x+6)° = (8x+3)°+130°
-5x+6° = 3° + 130°
-5x = 133° - 6°
-5x = 127°
x = -25.4°

m(angle)A=
(3x+6)°
3×(-25.4)+6= -70.2°

m(angle)DBE=
(8x+3)°=
8(-25.4)+3= -200.2°

I only did 1. and 3. for examples now, but if you need help with anymore just ask!

Find product of :(2x-y)(2x+3y).
Ierofanga [76]

Answer: 4x² + 4xy - 3y²

Concept:

When encountering questions that ask for simplifying algebraic expressions, using the FOIL method would be easier:

  • First, which means multiplying the first terms together;
  • Outer, which means that we multiply the outermost terms when the binomials are placed side by side;
  • Inner, which means multiply the innermost terms together;
  • Last, which means that we multiply the last term in each binomial together.

Solve:

Given

(2x - y) (2x + 3y)

Expand parentheses and apply the FOIL method

=4x² + 6xy - 2xy - 3y²

Combine like terms

=4x² + (6xy - 2xy) - 3y²

=\boxed{4x^2+4xy-3y^2}

Hope this helps!! :)

25% of the time there is free breakfast at work. You just woke up and are really hungry, so you call your coworker who is alread
Mice21 [21]

Answer:

0.17

Step-by-step explanation:

The number of times there is free Breakfast at work = 25%

The number of times the coworker lies = 1/3

The number of times the coworker speaks truth = 2/3

How likely is it that there is free breakfast at work today:

For this to happen both conditions must be satisfied. There must be free breakfast at work AND the coworker has also spoken truth. Now in this condition we will use the AND rule of Probability where we will take the Product of both the probabilities.

Result = 0.25 x 0.67 = 0.17
