Biologists designed an experiment to test the effect of compost on the development of root crops. They tested several different

crops, including carrots, potatoes, beets, and onions. They grew most of the plants in the greenhouse, but due to space issues, they had to grow some outdoors. They gave all the plants the same amount of compost. They obtained the compost from a local farmer and from the local hardware store. They ran out of the farmer’s compost, so some of the plants received that compost when the seeds were planted and other plants got hardware store compost after the plants had already started growing.
RESULTS: Some of the roots seemed really big. Other roots seemed normal or small.

CONCLUSION: They couldn’t tell what the effect of the compost was because the results were inconsistent.

What are five problems with this experimental design that could have caused inconsistent results?

Red mercury (II) oxide decomposes to form mercury metal and oxygen gas according to the following equation: 2HgO (s) 2Hg (l) + O
diamong [38]

hey there!:

2HgO (s) =>  2Hg (l) + O2 (g)

2 moles of HgO decompose to form 2 moles of Hg and 1 mole of O2 according to the reaction mentioned in the question.

So 4.00 moles of HgO must give 4 moles of Hg and 2 moles of O2 theoretically.

603 g of Hg = 603 / 200.6 = 3 moles

Percent yield = ( actual yield / theoretical yield) * 100

= ( 3/4) * 100

= 75 %

Hope this helps!

A solution has a [H] of 1.0 x 107 M. Calculate the pH.
ahrayia [7]

ANSWER Since 1.0 × 10 -7 has two significant figures, the pH can be reported as 7.00. A logarithmic scale condenses the range of acidity to numbers that are easy to use. Consider a solution with [H + ] = 1.0 × 10 -4 M. That is a hydrogen-ion concentration that is 1000 times higher than the concentration in pure water.

A peregrine falcon can travel 537,600 furlong/fortnight. A race car travels 212ft/s. A spider can jump with a maximum velocity o
o-na [289]
Convert everything to one base unit (let's do ft/s in this case)
There are 660 ft in a furlong and 2 weeks or 1209600 seconds in a fortnight
Multiply 537,600furlong and 660 ft/furlong and divide by 1209600 to get 293.333ft/s

The race car is already in ft/s

There are 30.48 cm in 1 foot and 3600 seconds in 1 hour.  Multiply 9,000,000 by 1/30.48 and 1/3600 to get 82.02ft/s

THe peregrine falcon is the fastest

What is the volume of an oxygen tank if it contains 12 moles of oxygen at 273 K under 75 kPa?
Zina [86]
Given:
n = 12 moles of oxygen
T = 273 K, temperature
p = 75 kPa, pressure

Use the ideal gas law, given by
pV=nRT \\ or \\  V= \frac{nRT}{p}
where
V = volume
R = 8.3145 J/(mol-K), the gas constant

Therefore,
V= \frac{(12\,mol)(8.3145\, \frac{J}{mol-K} )(273\,K)}{75 \times 10^{3} \, Pa}= 0.3632\,m^{3}

Answer: 0.363 m³
