Answer:

y = 6x + 3

Step-by-step explanation:

Since you can't have a negative y in a y = mx + b equation you have to make it postive. You also have to do everything you do on one side to the other. To do this you have to multiply everything by -1. This will make everything positive b/c it cancels out the other negative. (Two negatives equals a positive) You should be left with y = 6x + 3. The -1 cancelled the -y, -6x, and -3 so you add 3 instead of subtract it.

y = 6x + 3

A) The distance around a rectangular room is 44 feet, and 120 tiles (each one is 1 sq. foot in size) are
Musya8 [376]

Answer:

Step-by-step explanation:

let x and y be the sides of the rectangle.

2(x+y)=44

x+y=44/2=22

y=22-x

1 tile=1 sq. ft.

120 tiles=120 sq.ft.

area=120 sq.ft.

xy=120

x(22-x)=120

22x-x²=120

x²-22x+120=0

x²-12x-10x+120=0

x(x-12)-10(x-12)=0

(x-12)(x-10)=0

x=12,10

if x=12

y=22-12=10

if x=10

y=22-10=12

floor dimensions are 12 ft ×10 ft

If the area of a triangular prism is 300 and the height is 3 what is the area of the base?
evablogger [386]
The volume of any prism is given by
.. V = Bh . . . . B is the area of the base, h is the height

You have
.. 300 = B*3
.. 300/3 = B = 100

The area of the base is 100 square units.

Joe sold a total of 10 baked goods. Each cookie costs $1.25 and each brownie costs $2.50. Joe made $20 at the bake sale. How man
AURORKA [14]

Answer:

4 cookies

Step-by-step explanation:

Let the number of cookies he sold be c and that of brownies be b.

Assuming that brownies and cookies are the only type of baked goods sold,

b +c= 10 -----(1)

Amount of money received= $20

b(cost of brownie) +c(cost of cookie)= $20

2.50b +1.25c= 20 -----(2)

From (1): b= 10 -c -----(3)

Substitute (3) into (2):

2.50(10 -c) +1.25c= 20

Expand:

2.50(10) +2.50(-c) +1.25c= 20

25 -2.50c +1.25c= 20

-1.25c +25= 20

Being constants to 1 side:

-1.25c= 20 -25

-1.25c= -5

c= -5 ÷(-1.25)

c= 4

Thus, Joe sold 4 cookies.

Wendy has only nickels and dimes in her pocket. The number of dimes is 8 less than triple the number of nickels. Let n represent
Svetradugi [14.3K]

Answer:

The number of dimes is 3n - 8

Step-by-step explanation:

Here, we are interested in writing an expression for the number of dimes.

We proceed as follows;

Now, there are n nickels with the number of dimes been 8 less than 3 times the number of nickels

That would be;

3(n) -8 = 3n -8

What is the distance from (−4, 0) to (2, 5)? Round your answer to the nearest hundredth. (4 points)
