2Mg + O2 2Mgo what is the coefficient

Chemistry

Ray Of Light [21]3 years ago

Answer:

In this chemical equation, there are two main elements. Those elements are magnesium (Mg) and oxygen (O). Molecules are a group of atoms bonded together, and in this case, the oxygen molecules is O2, but not 2MgO because there are two different molecules in this compound. Coefficients are a number that multiply an entire molecule, and are also placed in front of it. In this case, O2 has no coefficient, but a subscript of 2. But, every molecule in this equation must have a coefficient and if add a coefficient of 1 to the oxygen molecule, it does nothing to the overall balancing of equations.

So, the answer: coefficient to the oxygen molecule is 2.

For the reaction between aqueous silver nitrate and aqueous sodium chloride, write each of the following. The products of the re
vova2212 [387]

Answer:

A balanced ionic equation shows the reacting ions in a chemical reaction. These equations can be used to represent what happens in precipitation reactions or displacement reactions.

Precipitation reactions

In a typical precipitation reaction, two soluble reactants form an insoluble product and a soluble product.

For example, silver nitrate solution reacts with sodium chloride solution. Insoluble solid silver chloride and sodium nitrate solution form:

AgNO3(aq) + NaCl(aq) → AgCl(s) + NaNO3(aq)

The Na+ ions and NO3- ions remain separate in the sodium nitrate solution and do not form a precipitate. Ions that remain essentially unchanged during a reaction are called spectator ions. This means these can be ignored when writing the ionic equation. Only how the solid silver chloride forms is needed to be shown:

Ag+(aq) + Cl-(aq) → AgCl(s)

In a balanced ionic equation:

the number of positive and negative charges is the same

the numbers of atoms of each element on the left and right are the same

Displacement reactions

Displacement reactions take place when a reactive element displaces a less reactive element from one of its compounds.

A common type of displacement reaction takes place when a reactive metal reacts with the salt of a less reactive metal. For example, copper reacts with silver nitrate solution to produce silver and copper(II) nitrate solution:

2AgNO3(aq) + Cu(s) → 2Ag(s) + Cu(NO3)2(aq)

In this reaction, the NO3- ions remain in the solution and do not react - they are the spectator ions in this reaction. So, they can be removed from the ionic equation:

2Ag+(aq) + Cu(s) → 2Ag(s) + Cu2+(aq)

Question

Explain why this ionic equation is balanced:

Ba2+(aq) + SO42-(aq) → BaSO4(s)

Hide answer

There are the same numbers of atoms of each element on both sides of the equation. The total charge on both sides is also the same (zero).

Question

Balance this ionic equation, which represents the formation of a silver carbonate precipitate:

Ag+(aq) + CO32-(aq) → Ag2CO3(s)

Hide answer

2Ag+(aq) + CO32-(aq) → Ag2CO3(s)

Question

Balance this ionic equation, which represents the displacement of iodine from iodide ions by chlorine:

Cl2(aq) + I-(aq) → I2(aq) + Cl-(aq)

Hide answer

Cl2(aq) + 2I-(aq) → I2(aq) + 2Cl-(aq

How many fluorine atoms are in 750.0 mL of a 0.500M HF solution?
SIZIF [17.4K]

Answer:

2.26 \times 10^{23}atomsF

Explanation:

Step 1: Given data

  • Molarity of the HF solution (M): 0.500 M
  • Volume of the solution (V): 750.0 mL

Step 2: Convert "V" to liters

We will use the conversion factor 1 L = 1000 mL.

750.0 mL × 1 L/1000 mL = 0.7500 L

Step 3: Calculate the moles of HF

We will use the following expression.

n = M × V

n = 0.500 mol/L × 0.7500 L = 0.375 mol

Step 4: Calculate the atoms of F in 0.375 moles of HF

We will use the following relationships:

  • 1 mole of HF contains 1 mole of atoms of F.
  • 1 mole of atoms of F contains 6.02 × 10²³ atoms of F (Avogadro's number).

0.375 mol HF \times \frac{1 mol F}{1 molHF} \times \frac{6.02 \times 10^{23}atomsF }{1 mol F} = 2.26 \times 10^{23}atomsF

7. A 5.00 g sample of spinach was extracted with 1% oxalic acid and the extract was diluted to 50.0 ml. The titration of 1.00 ml
LenKa [72]

Answer:

0.122 mg or 0.0122%

Explanation:

We first calculate average of ascorbic acid

= 7.8 + 8.6 /2

= 17.4/2

= 8.2

8.2 ml contains 0.03 x 8.2

= 0.246 mg of ascorbic acid.

1 ml of dcpip reacts with 0.246 ascorbic acid

1 mol of dcpip required 20.6 ml and 19.8

Average = 19.8 + 20.6 / 2

= 40.4/2

= 20.2ml

If 20.2 ml = 0.246 ascorbic acid

50 ml = 0.246 x 50 / 20.2

= 0.6089 mg is in 50 ml extract

5 mg of spinach is what was used to make extract

= 0.6089/5

= 0.122 mg

Vitamin c is made up of ascorbic acid as it's composition. So Vitamin c in spinach = 0.122 mg or 0.0122%
