Multiply both sides by (x-2)(x+1) to clea fractions
x(x+1)+(x-1)(x-2)=(-1)(x-2)(x+1)
distribute
x^2+x+x^2-3x+2=-x^2+x-2
add like terms
2x^2-2x+2=-x^2+x+2
add x^2 to both sdes
3x^2-2x+2=x+2
minus x from both sides
3x^2-3x+2=2
minus 2 both sides
3x^2-3x=0
factor
(3x)(x-1)=0
set to zero

3x=0
x=0

x-1=0
x=1

A rectangular swimming pool measures 50 meters in length and 25 meters in width. If the length in the scale drawing is 10 cm, wh
mash [69]

Answer:

The 25 m width of the actual swimming pool in the scale drawing is 5 cm

Step-by-step explanation:

The dimensions of the actual swimming pool given are

Length = 50 meters

Width = 25 meters

The length of the swimming pool on the scale drawing = 10 cm

The scale of the scale drawing is therefore;

10 cm on the scale drawing is equivalent to 50 meters of the actual swimming pool

Which gives;

10 cm:50 m

However, 50 m = 5,000 cm, therefore;

10 cm:5,000 cm or 10 : 5,000

Which is 10 to 5000 or 10/10 to 5000/10 = 1 to 500

The scale of the scale drawing is 1 to 500

or 1 cm of the scale drawing = 5 meters of the actual swimming pool

Therefore, the width of 25 meters of the actual swimming pool can be given as follows;

5 m = 1 cm

1 m = 1 cm/5

25 m = 25× 1 m = 25 × 1 cm/5 = 5 cm

Therefore, the 25 m width of the actual swimming pool in the scale drawing = 5 cm.

Solve the system of equations using matrices. x+7y=02x−8y=22 Question 7 (Mandatory) (1 point) Step 1. Find the coefficient matri
Alex Ar [27]

Answer:

x=7

y =-1

Step-by-step explanation:

Given is a system of equations in x and y as

x+7y=0\\2x-8y =22

This can be written in matrix form as

Ax = B

\left[\begin{array}{ccc}1&7\\2&-8\end{array}\right]\left[\begin{array}{ccc}x\\y\end{array}\right]  =\left[\begin{array}{ccc}0\\22\end{array}\right]

Let us find inverse of A

|A| = -8-14 =-22

A^{-1} =\frac{-1}{22} *\left[\begin{array}{ccc}-8&-7\\-2&1\end{array}\right]

X= A ^(-1) B

x=7, y =-1
