Multiply both sides by (x-2)(x+1) to clea fractions
x(x+1)+(x-1)(x-2)=(-1)(x-2)(x+1)
distribute
x^2+x+x^2-3x+2=-x^2+x-2
add like terms
2x^2-2x+2=-x^2+x+2
add x^2 to both sdes
3x^2-2x+2=x+2
minus x from both sides
3x^2-3x+2=2
minus 2 both sides
3x^2-3x=0
factor
(3x)(x-1)=0
set to zero

3x=0
x=0

x-1=0
x=1

NO MULTIPLE CHOICE<br><br><br> Find the length of AB label sides find angles HELP ME PLEASE
Ugo [173]

Answer:

8.4 (rounded to 1 dp)

Step-by-step explanation:

1) Identify the number of angles and sides given if you cannot use Pythagoras or SohCahToa.

2) You have 2 angles and 1 side, so you know you must use sine rule: <em>a </em>over sinA =<em> b </em>over sinB

<em>a</em> = side length, sin(A) = angle opposite side

<em>b</em> = side length, sin(B) = angle opposite side

3) This means:

13/sin(90) = x/sin(40)

4) rearrange for x:

x = 13/sin(90) * sin(40)

  = 8.356...

5) Round to however many sig figs/dps they're asking for

Example: 1 dp

AB = 8.4

3 sig figs

AB = 8.36

Find the x and y intercepts of 4x - 5y = 40<br><br> Is this correct and can someone explain why??
cupoosta [38]

Answer:

no, the correct answer is D.

Step-by-step explanation:

for the x-intercept you would first add 5y to both sides giving you 4x=5y+40. then you would divide both sides by 4, so the final equation would be x=5/4y+10.

for the y-intercept you would subtract 4x from both sides, making -5y=-4x+40. then you would divide both sides by -5, making the final equation y=4/5x-8.

For the function y=-1+6cos(2pi/7(x-5)) what is the minimum value?
s344n2d4d5 [400]

Answer:

The minimum value of y is -7

Step-by-step explanation:

Given: y=-1+6\cos(\dfrac{2\pi}{7}(x-5))

We are given a cosine function.

We need to find minimum value of function.

y=-1+6\cos(\dfrac{2\pi}{7}(x-5))

Here y is depends on cosine function.

y is minimum when cosine is minimum because y is directly proportional to cosine function.

Minimum value of cos x is -1

Therefore, For minium value of y

\cos(\dfrac{2\pi}{7}(x-5))=-1

Minimum value of y

y=-1+6(-1)

y=-7

Hence, The minimum value of y is -7

Perform the indicated operation and simplify the result.
hodyreva [135]

Answer:

The answer is

\frac{(2x - y)(2x + y)}{(4x + 3y)(2x + y)}   \times   \frac{(4x + 3y)(x - 3y)}{(2x + y)(x - 3y)}  \\  \\  =  \frac{2x - y}{4x + 3y}  \times  \frac{4 + 3y}{2x  +  y}  \\  \\  =  \frac{2x - y}{2x + y}

Hope this helps you
