Equality Properties

Trigonometry

  • [Right Triangles Only] SOHCAHTOA
  • [Right Triangles Only] cos∅ = adjacent over hypotenuse

Step-by-step explanation:

Step 1: Define

We are given a right triangle. We can use trig to find the missing angle.

Step 2: Identify Variables

POV from angle x

Angle = x

Adjacent = 16

Hypotenuse = 27

Step 3: Solve for x

  1. Substitute:                    cosx° = 16/27
  2. Inverse:                         x° = cos⁻¹(16/27)
  3. Evaluate:                       x = 53.6588°

21 is what percent of 40
-Dominant- [34]
To solve for this, set up a proportion.
21/40 = x/100.
Cross multiply the fraction's numerators with the denominators;
21 x 100, 40 and x.
2100/40x.
Divide both numbers by 40 to get x.
2100/40 = 52.5
21 is 52.5% of 40.
I hope this helps!

You have to make a cos graph that starts its minimum and of -2, has an amplitude of 10, a period of 10 and a maximum of 18.
I decided to use a cos graph since cos graphs start at their minimum or maximum unlike a sine graph that starts halfway between the minimum and maximum. You also know the amplitude has to be 10 since 18+2=20 and 20/2=10. We were also told that the water wheel completels a rotation every 10 minutes which means the period is 10 minutes.

lets start of with a regular cos(x) graph. This starts on its maximum instead of minimum so we have to multiply it by -1 to get -cos(x) which does start on its minimum.

-cos(x) has an amplitude of 1 instead of 10, to fix that we multiply it by 10 to get -10cos(x) which has an amplitude of 10.

-10cos(x) has a period of 2π instead of 10, to fix this we multiply the x by 2π/10 to get -10cos((π/5)x) which now has a period of 10.

-10cos((π/5)x) has a minimum of -10 and maximum of 10 instead of a minimum of -2 and maximum of 18, to fix this we add 8 to -10cos((π/5)x) to get -10cos((π/5)x)+8 which does have a minimum of -2 and maximum of 18.

Therefore the answer is y=-10cos((π/5)x)+8. x being time in minutes and and y being the height in feet.

I hope this helps. Let me know if anything is unclear.

(b) The force, F, between two objects is inversely proportional to the square of the distance, d, between
LiRa [457]

Answer:

F is reduced by 31%

Step-by-step explanation:

F = 1/(d²)

now, we increase the distance by 20% (multiply by 1.2).

F new = 1/(1.2×d)² = 1/(1.44×d²) = (1/1.44) × (1/(d²)) =

= 1/1.44 × old F = 0.69 × old F

100 - 69 = 31%

What is the equation of a line perpendicular to y=14x−3 and passes through the point (−2, 4)?
Lady bird [3.3K]

Answer:

they answer would be y = 3x + 2

Step-by-step explanation:

Convert the equation to slope intercept form to get y = –1/3x + 2. The old slope is –1/3 and the new slope is 3. Perpendicular slopes must be opposite reciprocals of each other: m1 * m2 = –1

With the new slope, use the slope intercept form and the point to calculate the intercept: y = mx + b or 5 = 3(1) + b, so b = 2

So y = 3x + 2
