What are chromatids and how do they differ from chromosomes
Molodets [167]
Chromatids are only called as chromatids when they are sister chromatids, meaning that when chromosome have two double stranded DNA attached together, each of the double stranded DNA is a sister chromatid, and while the whole thing (the two sister chromatids that are attached together) is called a chromosome.

So after the DNA has been replicated, the chromosome consist of 2 sister chromatids, attached to each other at their centromere.

Overall, sister chromatid is one of the two double stranded DNA in a replicated chromosome, and chromosome is the whole "X" shape that we see. For example, in humans, after the S phase of interphase in the cell cycle, we have 46 chromosomes, with 92 chromatids, since each chromosome is an "X" shape, by having two sister chromatids.

Hope this helps!

Which characteristics do mars and earth share? check all that apply.
Delvig [45]

Atmosphere, and active volcanoes, such characteristics is shared by mars and earth.

How do both mars and earth share characterstics?

 • Both the planets have the same area of dry land. This is because two-thirds of the area of Earth's surface is covered with oceans but water is absent on Mars.
 • Both Mars and Earth exhibit temperature and atmosphere.
 • The geological processes on Mars and Earth are common for example formation of volcanoes, canyons and impact basins.
 • Mars exhibits rings but the earth does not.
 • Earth exhibit distinct seasons but Mars do not due to reducing and hot atmospheric condition.

Thus, these are the similarity between mars and earth.

Q. In an ________ solution, red blood cells ________. Group of answer choices:

 • Hyposmotic, lose water and shrivel
 • Isomotic, have a normal shape ✔️
 • Isosmotic, swell and may burst
 • Hyperosmotic, have a normal shape
 • Isosmotic, lose water and shrivel

In an isosmotic solution, red blood cells have normal shape.

Option B

Explanation:-

Osmosis : The movement of the solvent or water molecules from a solution of their higher concentration to a solution of lower concentration through a semipermeable membrane.

❍ Depending upon the osmotic concentration, There are three types of solution and their result when cell is keot inside them:

 • Hyposmotic (Water enters, Swells up)
 • Isosmotic(Equal flow, No change)
 • Hyperosmotic(Water comes out, shrinkage)

The pigment plants have that they use for photosynthesis is called _________.
VladimirAG [237]

Answer:

chlorophyll

Explanation:

The mechanism by which light energy can be transformed into chemical energy by synthesis of organic compounds is chlorophyll, a member of the most significant pigment class involved in photosynthesis. In nearly all photosynthetic species, e.g. green plants, cyanobacteria and algae, the use of chlorophyll is identified. It consumes light energy and is then used for the conversion to carbohydrates of carbon dioxide.
