Tetrodotoxin is a potent toxin found in a variety of organisms including the pufferfish. The toxin binds to the extracellular si

de of the Na channel and prevents channel opening. This leads to paralysis of muscles, including the diaphragm. Death from respiratory failure can occur after ingestion of as little as 1 mg of the toxin. Why does this toxin cause paralysis

Answer:

At the cellular level, Tetrodotoxin blocks voltage-gated sodium channels, causing alterations in neuronal functions or nerve impulse resulting in paralysis.

Explanation:

Tetrodotoxin is a toxin that blocks sodium channels in cells, causing nerve numbness and muscle paralysis. To do this, the area of the guanidinium group, with a positive charge with a size similar to that of a hydrated Na + ion, binds to a negatively charged area of the channel, with a glutamate, and forces a change in the configuration of the constituent protein. By blocking sodium channels, tetrodotoxin produces paralysis of the muscles, causing death in a high number of chaos, around 50%, in a period between 20 minutes and eight hours.

In the snail pomacea patula catemacensis, n = 13. what is the diploid number for this organism?
kakasveta [241]
Answer: 26 chromosomes.
The diploid number is the number of chromosomes required for two sets of copies of the organism’s genome ( this is the number of chromosomes in the cells except gametic cells). The organism's genome is represented as n, and the diploid number,as 2n (2 x 13= 26).

The area between Z lines is the
Nataly_w [17]

Answer:

Sarcomere

Explanation:

A myofibril or muscle fiber under an electron microscope shows alternate light band and dark bands.  These bands give the skeletal muscle and cardiac muscle a striated appearance. The light band is called the I- band or isotropic band, and the dark band is known as A- band or anisotropic band. In the center of the I-band Z-line is present. It is discovered from a German term Zwischenscheibe (between the disc). The portion of myofibril between one Z-line to the next Z-line is called sarcomere.
