Two globs of molten rock are in outer space. One glob has a mass of 2,400 kilograms and is moving at a velocity of 680 meters pe

r second directly toward the second glob. The second glob is at rest. The two globs collide in a perfectly inelastic collision—sticking together. If the velocity of the new mega-glob is 90 m/s, what was the original mass of the second glob? A. 318 kg B. 213,600 kg C. 15,733 kg D. 15,708 kg

Answer:

C. 15,733 kg

Explanation:

Conservation of momentum

2400(680) + m(0) = 2400(90) + 90m

2400(680 - 90) = 90m

m = 15,733.3333333...

I’m which medium does sound travel fastest railroad track or across the room
blondinia [14]
The closer the particles, the more will be the propogation of sound waves. Room contains air molecules which are far away from each other. So it takes much time for one molecule of air to disturb the other one. But in case of solids, as particles are much closer(compared to fluids), disturbance generated by one molecule is quickly transmitted to the next molecule

A bus accelerates to 60 m/s to the east in 10 s. What is the buses acceleration? 2. A car traveling at 10.0 m/s to the west acce
professor190 [17]

Answers:

1) a=6\frac{m}{s^{2}}

2) t=8s

Explanation:

1) Acceleration a is defined as the variation of Velocity V in time t :

a=\frac{V}{t}  (1)

A body also has acceleration when it changes its direction.

In this case we have a bus with a velocity of 60m/s to the east, that accelerates in a time 10s. So, we have to find the bus's acceleration:

a=\frac{60m/s}{10s}  (2)

a=6m/s^{2}  (3)  This is the bus's accelerration

2) Now we have a car that accelerates 2m/s^{2}  to the west in order to reach a speed of 16m/s in the same direction, and we have to find the time t it takes to the car to reach that velocity.

Therefore we have to find  t from (1):

t=\frac{V}{a}  (4)

t=\frac{16m/s}{2m/s^{2}}  (5)

Finally:

t=8s  (6)
