Answer:

in 1988, a forest fire destroyed much of yellowstone park.This photo, taken 17 years later,show that the forest is gradually growing back, small grasses first grew here and are now being replaced by small trees and shrubs, this is an example of the later stages of secondary succession.

The early stages of succession after a forest fire are shown in these pictures. taken four years after the fire. they show the charred remains of the original forest as well as the small grasses and shrubs that are beginning to throw in the back area.

During a volcanic eruption,molten lava flows over the ground and into the water. after the eruption is over the lava cools and hardens into bare rock.

lichen spores carried on the wind settle on the rock and creat soil. linchens add nutrients to the soil as they die and decay.

Ecosystems are "dynamic". this means that the ecosystem change

over time.

during the ice ages , glaciers once covered areas that are tropical rainforests today. both natural forces and human actions cause ecosystem to change

if there is a big ecosystem change caused by natrual forces or human actions , the plants and animals that live there might be destroyed. or they may be foreced to leave.

over time a new community will develop and then that community may be replaced by another.

primary succession is the type of eological succession that happens on new lands, lands where life has not yet been existed. primary succession can take place after lava flow cools and hardens into new land or glacier recedes exposing new land.

secondary succession is the type of succession happens after something destroys the habitat, such as a flood or other natrual disaster. abandoning a field that was once used for agriculture can also lead secondary successionn

Summarize the five points of Dalton’s atomic theory, and explain at least one change that occurred to the atomic theory because
Umnica [9.8K]
The postulates of Dalton's theory were:
1) Elements are made of extremely small particles called atoms
2) Atoms of a given element are identical in size, mass, and other properties
3) Atoms cannot be subdivided, created, or destroyed
4) Atoms combine in whole number ratio to form compounds
5) Chemical reactions are the rearrangement of atoms
The third postulate has been disproved by modern science, in which the atom has been split and been subdivided into smaller parts such as the neutron, proton and electron, which are further subdivided into quarks, gluons, and kaons.
The second postulate was also disproved upon the discovery of isotopes.

What is the concentration of h+ ions in a solution of hydrochloric acid that was prepared by diluting 15.0 ml of concentrated (1
il63 [147K]
HCl is a monoprotic acid, which means that each mole of HCl releases one mole of hydrogen ions upon dissociation. Therefore, we calculate the moles of HCl present using:

Moles = Molarity * Volume (in liters)

Moles = 11.6 * 0.015
Moles = 0.174 moles of HCl = moles of H+ ions

Now, we use the same formula to calculate the molarity of the new solution, since the number of moles remains constant.

0.174 = M * 0.5
M = 0.348 M

The molarity of the new solution is 0.348

A watt is a unit of power or energy per unit time (1 W = 1 J/s). A semiconductor laser in a CD player has an output wavelength o
GREYUIT [131]

Answer:

n = 2.208x10¹⁸ photons

Explanation:

The energy of a photon( an elementary particle) is given by the equation:

E = nxhxf

Where n is the number of photons, h is plank constant (6,62x10⁻³⁴ J.s), and f is the frequency. Knowing that the power level is 0.120mW (1.2x10⁻⁴ W), the energy in J, for a time of 78 min (4680 s)

E = 1.2x10⁻⁴x4680 = 0.5616 J

The frequency of a photon is its velocity ( c= 3x10⁸ m/s) divided by its wavelength, which is 780 nm = 780x10⁻⁹ m

f = 3x10⁸/780x10⁻⁹

f = 3.846x10¹⁴ s⁻¹

Then, the number of photons is:

0.5616 = nx6,62x10⁻³⁴x3.846x10¹⁴

n = 2.208x10¹⁸ photons.

Calculate the mass of 3.4 moles of nitrous acid (HNO2). Explain the process or show your work by including all values used to de
Zina [86]

Answer:

Mass = 159.8 g

Explanation:

Given data:

Mass of HNO₂ = ?

Moles of nitrous acid = 3.4 mol

Solution:

Formula:

Number of moles = mass / molar mass

We will rearrange this formula.

Mass = number of moles × molar mass

Molar mass of nitrous acid = 47 g/ mol

Mass = 3.4 mol × 47 g/ mol

Mass = 159.8 g
