The story of "Treasure Island" book is an adventure one. Here in the book, the pirates under the leadership of the infamous pirate Captain Flint had buried the treasure on a distant island. The island referred to in the book is names as "Skeleton Island" by the author. As readers start reading the "Treasure Island" book, they will notice that the island of the title, where the dreaded pirate buried his treasure was actually called "Skeleton Island", but Jim Hawkins, the main character of the story takes to calling it as the "Treasure Island".

John is portrayed as an easily scared child at the beginning. Throughout the narrative of the cold, stormy night, John is always frightened of each stroke of lightning, bolts, and thunders. There are some passages from the text that show this character of George’s son: “At each stroke of lightning his small back stiffened. It was his first year on the canal and he was afraid of storms at night.”/ “…when lightning split the darkness he shut his eyes tight and pulled his head closer into his coat collar, waiting blindly for the thunder.”

My guess would be to get the reader thinking hard. They would ask the question like yu just did, "Why did he just say that at the beginning." My guess would be so they look fo clues to tell what he means by saying this. This is not how we normally write, so we would have to pay attention and look for clues to interperet what he means.
