First use pythagoras thereom to find AD ; 10^2 -8^2, square rooted. Then find DC , again using pythagoras thereom, 17^2-8^2, square rooted. Now you have AD and DC, use pythagoras thereom ; AD^2 + DC^2 = AC^2
