How does a catalyst work? using these options...
Gelneren [198K]

Answer: D) By decreasing the activation energy of a reaction

A catalyst is a substance that speed up the rate of chemical reaction without affecting the product of the reaction. They only affect the rate of reaction not the yield of reaction.

Catalyst provide an alternative reaction pathway that has lower activation energy  than that of uncatalysed reaction. It increases the frequency of collision and because of these greater collision which lowers the activation energy of the reaction.

carbon dioxide entering the ocean from the atmosphere continually.explain how some og this carbon can become “tied up” in the oc
swat32

Answer:

Carbon can become "tied up" in the ocean for hundreds and sometimes millions of years because dissolved carbon dioxide in water can sink with cold water to the bottom where it is moved slowly by deep ocean currents for hundreds of years before it is released to the atmosphere. This can lead to ocean acidification (the ongoing decrease (more acidic) in the pH of the Earth's oceans, caused by the uptake of carbon dioxide from the atmosphere)

_______________ refers to the vibration of sound waves on the ear drums and the sending of messages to the central auditory syst
Allisa [31]

Answer:

Hearing

Listening

Explanation:

Hearing refers to the vibration of sound waves on the ear drums and the sending of messages to the central auditory system of the brain. The mechanism involve the use of Pinna also known as auricle to gather sound waves which is transferred into the tympanic membrane along the air canal.In the tympanic, sound waves vibrate following the waveform of the sound.

In the middle ear, the ossicles of the middle ear(malleus, incus, stape) assist in the transmission of the vibrations from the tympanic membrane  into the inner ear (the cochlea).

The cochlea serve as a mechanical-neural transduction pathway,  it helps to transmit sound information via the auditory nerve to the cochlear nucleus in the brainstem.

Listening refers to paying close attention to and making sense of those sounds perceived from the surrounding environment . It is the ability to get the right information without any misinterpretation in the communication process. It is the key to any effective communication.

An ideal gas is held in a container of volume V at pressure p. The rms speed of a gas molecule under these conditions is v. If n
yawa3891 [41]

Answer:

d) 2v

Explanation:

Since, root mean square speed of a molecule,

V_{rms}=\sqrt{\frac{3kT}{m}}

Where,

k = Boltzmann constant,

T = temperature of gas,

m = mass of molecule,

Also, the temperature of a gas,

T=\frac{pV}{nR}

Where,

p = pressure of the gas,

V = volume,

n = number of moles of gas,

R = universal gas constant,

\implies V_{rms}=\sqrt{\frac{3kpV}{mnR}}

If V = 2V and p = 2P

Then,

V_{rms}=\sqrt{\frac{12kpV}{mnR}

=2\sqrt{\frac{3kpV}{mnR}

Hence, if rms speed of a gas molecule under initial conditions is v then rms speed of a molecule will be 2v

i.e. option d is correct.
